Money quotes:

I’m not going to make everyone happy, but ask people around baseball. Fans don’t write the lineup, I’ll tell you that. The ones that are critical are the ones that most of the time never played and don’t really understand it.

From my belief, and what I’ve understood, I’m the guy and there hasn’t been any loss of (faith). I believe that, and I believe that baseball people believe that, as well.

One thing I understand is you’re not going to make everyone happy,” he says. “My first couple of years, I drove in a lot of runs, hit .230, (was among the leaders in) catcher production, and still it wasn’t ever going to be good enough. That’s the problem, that’s part of it, and I understand.

“The world, I feel like, thrives on negativity, you have to write some things sometimes, and you can’t always be positive,” he continues. “I’m not worried about that stuff. I’m just going out there and playing. That’s what I’ve learned this year — you open yourself up in a good way and sometimes people turn it into a bad thing.

People are going to have bad things to say, if I was hitting .300 and I only had two walks, people would say I’m not taking enough pitches, whatever it may be. The first month people were still writing negative things and it didn’t really affect me. It just got to a point where I was tired of trying to give back to people when people were using it as a negative outlet. There’s no need for that. I’m going to give my time to the people that I can influence and help out, not to people who just sit there and berate you and try to knock you down.

We've never played the game. Produkshun. Haterz.

I get the feeling JPA will still be around next year, they'll use the injury excuse to explain his lack of production and cite his home run totals to get people to believe he wasn't THAT bad.

I never thought I could hate another human being so much. Do the Blue Jays have a psychologist, cause this guy is seriously looney toons.

He'll be in the organization. I'm hoping it's in AAA. It'd be a pretty clear message; "you aren't good enough, things need to change."

They'll probably pick up some catcher that isn't that good and have the two of them share time. AA has held onto JPA for this long, I don't think he'll send him down to AAA just like that. I mean look how much rope he gave Lind...

Brutal

When I saw the headline I though "OK, maybe he's got something refreshing to say".

Nope. Self-pitying, arrogant drivel.

JPA, Are you Cuban?

Hermano, estas muy mal de la cabeza. Eres tu quien no conoce nada acerca del baseball; eres un maldito ignorante que no conoce el significado de la palabra "producción" o la frase "Contribución para el equipo"

After reading the article and finding out that JPA refused a cortisone s*** or his knee and has been playing hurt all year yet somehow thinking he deserves credit for doing so, I've come to the conclusion that he is bordering on delusional.

Athletes and sports people in general really need to get away from the mentality that playing hurt and performing terribly is something that should be seen as a positive. Who cares of you're playing hurt, you're f***ing up the team with your hero attitude. This belief that playing hurt is somehow putting the team first is ********, people play hurt because they want to be seen as "heroic" and pass it off as being a team guy, when in reality it's the ultimate selfish act. If you really wanted to help the team when you're hurt to the point that you should be on the DL as part of your treatment, you would go on the f***ing DL so that someone who isn't hitting and catching like Helen Keller can come in and actually help the team, rather than putting up practically the worst season in the history of the entire game.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how he says "hit .230" like it was a good thing.
