Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Frankly, if there was ever a team that should be active at the trade deadline, the Jays are it. They've got many pieces buyers would covet, and holes to fill. Come on AA, make some moves. It will breathe some life into the team and the fanbase!
bzapple Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 It's the right time to deal Janssen but I have very little hope of it actually happening. AA plans to contend next year and seems to view a closer as being one of the key players on a roster, so he'll keep him.

mitchf Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 So to no surprise, he'll do what he shouldn't and sit tight. I can't wait for the 2014 Jays marketing. "We've learned from last year that we have to play as a team!" "Proving the doubters wrong!"

They have so many great pieces and a new GM would have a easy time turning around this team. Bautista/Edwin/bullpen guys can all get us a huge haul
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Jays should move Janssen if the opportunity arises and Oliver for sure. Cecil and Delabar I doubt get moved at the deadline.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I would like to aquire any of those 3 or all of those 3 for relievers. Gregory Polanco is another guy that I would target now that Grilli went down
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 AA plans to contend next year And I plan to grow a money tree in my backyard next year. Not sure which "plan" is more delusional.

cornelius woodenfeet Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 i am loosing more faith in AA every time he makes a move. the Happ trade was f***ing stupid, the Napoli trade was f***ing stupid, the Rasmus trade he overpaid cosidering he also lost out on 2 supplimental 1st round picks, overpaid for Dickey, signed shitbag melky when Davis is far superior and cheaper, he sat on the pot when he should have brought in Francona to manage, he is a f***ing beancounter, not a baseball man!! aside from moving Wells i cant say im impressed with his decision making
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Gregory Polanco is another guy that I would target now that Grilli went down I doubt the Pirates move Polanco for just a reliever. I say Polanco is moved if the Pirates get a big bat in RF.
Ehh Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Rasmus trade an overpay? Who gives a s*** about 2 supp picks, if that's even true. I'll take a top 5 center fielder over relivers and a bunch of unkowns anyday.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Gregory Polanco is another guy that I would target now that Grilli went down And you're a f***ing retard if you think Pittsburgh would trade an elite prospect for a reliever. Why does anybody even believe what AA says? He's never been forthright with his intentions.

"We've learned from last year that we have to play as a team!" "Proving the doubters wrong!" Big Acquisitions: Starlin Castro and Alfonso Soriano.... AA: "Castro is a guy we wanted for a long time he has 5 tools. Our scouts all expect him to rebound. We really think he'll be fine. He's a guy who's got great make up, knows how to play the game and play it right. Soriano is another guy we've always liked. He's in great shape for his age. There is no doubt in any of our minds that he can still play at a high level. Our plan is Castro at second, Lawrie at third, Reyes, Bonficacio in left, Soriano at DH, this is a team designed for Cito, built to win for Cito, we know with Cito he needs the right guys. This isn't 2000, it's not the moneyball era anymore. Paul and I know that Cito still has what it takes and that's why we brought him out of retirement, and we're giving him a winning team this year. This is it. We're not making the same mistakes. 2014 will be the year of legacy where Billy Beane, Tampa, thinking, math, youth, and society all get on their knees and worship the Beast.... I know I lick his balls every morning and you will too.... or we'll kill you. Thanks guys, none of us are entirely sane any more obviously... and just to let you know I'm also a tad medicated myself... but just chill and go with the flow like that Stoeten guy... don't want any sour pusses ruining the parade."
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Why does anybody even believe what AA says? He's never been forthright with his intentions. Because standing pat and not selling would be the incompetent thing to do, and Fat Alice is an incompetent buffoon.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Why does anybody even believe what AA says? He's never been forthright with his intentions. I think it has more to do with AA having a track record of refusing to sell.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Fat Alice still doesn't get it. Sorry, not impressed with "possibly maybe" trading ONE reliever at the deadline when the whole team needs to be sold off, including the entire bullpen. Not only that, but I don't trust him to trade said reliever for prospects instead of washed-up vets.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Lol, Morrow is going to require TJ surgery and he will miss all of 2014. This organization is a joke.
mitchf Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Lol, Morrow is going to require TJ surgery and he will miss all of 2014. This organization is a joke. Haha it's really just hilarious. I mean Hutchison blows his elbow out on a pitch and this team decides to shut him down for a couple months just to "make sure" it can't be solved without surgery. Sure enough the inevitable TJS comes and he's no longer an option to play a meaningful game in 2013.

Right...So AA should just come out and say he needs to move a reliever or two because that would help him get the best return, lol.

This is a Pittsburgh team desperate to make the playoffs and they are no-doubt buyers for the first time in what feels like decades. Polanco is their best shot at adding a significant piece. Obviously the Jays aren't going to get Castellanos or Polanco for Janssen straight up but there is no reason they couldn't work out a deal. Edited July 25, 2013 by DuckDuckGose

Howard Roark Verified Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Right...So AA should just come out and say he needs to move a reliever or two because that would help him get the best return, lol. That's the only factor keeping me sane regarding his current stance.
