DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 So would I. And it has nothing to do with Snider - I just have no interest in paying Melky another ~$12 million. That's understandable but, Melky is clearly the better player.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 lol gotcha I fail to see what's so funny.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Melky's a bargain at 8 million, too bad he's playing hurt, he has a pulled hammy that takes away his speed, and a strained quad that effects his power?! If our management had any brains they'd put him on the DL and let him heal for a few weeks. They should do it on the 1st of July and squeeze an extra 4 days rest from the 15 day DL. It won't happen though. Maybe they think that when he's healthy he's only slightly faster/better so no need to do that. I just hope that now that he doesn't leadoff or play LF, he will get better.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I still have faith Melky can turn it around. He hasn't played well at all and hes still managed to hit .280. Hopefully dropping him in the lineup helps him. Cabrera has not been fit recently and I believe this has hampered his performance. I believe a healthy Cabrera will outperform Snider but this is only speculation. Anyway, for some unknown reason Gibbons refuses to believe that a few days rest (maybe even a week off of his feet) will be beneficial to not only Cabrera but to the team which leads me to believe there may be more to his "gimpyness" than meets the eye. I would love to hear a reporter ask Gibbons straight out if resting Cabrera for a week or even a few days will not help him to recover quicker and if so, why not just rest him now so as not to compound what seems to the average fan to be an injury
