    Yeah this offense should be fine, who would have guessed Vladdy, Kirk and Springer would all be ass this year? Plus Varsho too, couldn't even pull off a league average bat FFS Anyways, smart trade for sure. Insurance against Bo being out long term, and now more options for next year too. Svanson had been really performing lately, but the jays system is suddenly stacked with pretty strong relief arms in the upper minors. Guys like Cooke, Danner, Burnette, Eisert, Fluharty, Brock and Jeunger, plus guys like Pop, Pearson, Francis and maybe even Zulueta will figure out his control issues.

    What is wrong with Tim Anderson at the plate this year? Would a trade potentially jolt him back to being a 110-120 wRC+ hitter?

    Could be out of a wild card spot by the time these next 7 games are done. Crazy to watch a whole season potentially circling the drain because they can't beat just two teams in the entirety of MLB lol

    lol our closer is hurt, the bullpen is not "fine" when your closer is injured 15 day IL, yeah...we all know how that can go. Hopefully he's back then but 15 day IL can turn into 60 day IL in the blink of an eye And the two pitchers they traded away are lottery tickets FFS. These aren't even really top 10 prospects in the Jays system and the Jays system is middling at best compared to the rest of the MLB prospect pools. Big whoop. Neither guy has electric stuff, and neither guy is really ripping up AA. They're just 'OK' prospects. Was a solid trade.

    If there is one thing I trust the Jays FO to do, it's trade prospects. Not a single one they've traded yet has managed to amount to anything valuable at the MLB level.

    Everybody here understands how bad Varsho has been at the plate this season. What we can't understand is why you have to bitch about it in every single f***ing post you put on BJMB, even after every huge win the team puts up.

    Between that and the 7-20 record vs the AL east, it's f***ing amazing that they are still on pace for 90 wins.

    That's why I'd rather go for Bednar if we want to double up on closers. At least he has some control left.

    Man does it ever suck that basically half of the Jays home grown core are (I'm sorry) over weight slobs. The team is on pace for 90+ wins and another playoff berth despite Manoah being -0.5 fWAR, Vladdy being 0.2 fWAR and Kirk being 0.4 fWAR. Imagine of those three actually acted like elite athletes and kept themselves in prime shape and weren't collectively hovering around replacement level? The jays would be pushing for the best record in baseball right now.

    That's pretty much exactly what I said dude. Going off the assumption he continues to pitch, he's pretty much a #3/4 on the Jays roster doing what he's done this season so far, if he finds his old form he's a potential ace who could start game 1 in any playoff series. Of course the worst case is him getting injured, but that's true of any player acquired by any team.

    I still say the Jays should kick tires on old man Scherzer. At worst he's a reliable #3/4 down the stretch, but the upside is legit game 1 playoff starter. Given his age and contract he probably wouldn't cost a ton of prospect capital either.

    Guerrero + Tiedemann for Ohtani would be roughly fair value IMO, but the Jays would have to feel pretty confident that they could get Ohtani extended, because if he walked in a few moths that one would sting.

    If Green is still a stud when he comes back, between him, Romano, Mayza, Swanson and Richards the Jays have late inning relief covered pretty well IMO. As mentioned, Garcia has been much better lately so those 6 relievers are a pretty strong set. I hate trading for relievers because even the best can s*** the bed with a change of scenery, but Bednar would be a really nice addition along with Green.
