  1. There is upside to having a defender who can defend, especially when you are going to rely on defense and pitching to win enough games to make the post season unless some of the big bats come back to life in 2024
  2. IKF doesn't "blow" He's an elite infield defender, especially at 3B and the Jays can use his glove there after letting Chapman walk instead of giving him a bloated anchor contract. The Yankees are the dummies that decided to toss IKF into the OF last year which tanked his value. Of course, all the simpletons will whine about him all f***ing year because he isn't hitting, while completely ignoring what he brings to the table
  3. That's why these prospect rankings are hard to take seriously. A few years ago the Jays system was ranked top 5 across the board because they had like 7 guys in the top 100. Kirk is the only one of those guys who has amounted to sweet f*** all and even he seems to be slipping because he's unable to control his gluttony. Groshans, SWR, Martin, Pearson, Kirk, Moreno, Orelivis.....I believe those were the guys in the top 100 in 2021?
  4. Is it an overreaction to say multiple times that the Jays should fire a 2+ fWAR player into the sun?
  5. I get not being happy with the off season, and wanting better options than IKF and Turner brought in, but please tell me what the "better options" were exactly. You can't fault the Jays for not being able to conjure up better options out of thin air, and you certainly can't blame for not wanting to fork out massive contracts to players like Bellinger and Chapman who are clearly not worth what Boras is asking. After missing Ohtani (who they were clearly never going to land, it was always going to be the Dodgers) I think the Jays have done about as good as you could hope for in an off season where the options were extremely limited. They still have a competitive team with a f***ton of depth, and they aren't saddled with even a single long term albatross contract going forward. The whining is extremely tiresome, to be honest. Hopefully the Jays have a good year or this place will be hard to visit because the "I told you so" brigade will be out in full force.
  6. Maybe we get both Turner and Soler
  7. I had completely forgotten that German was the guy booted for having sticky fingers lol
  8. Agreed. Besides Vladdy, this is one of the biggest wild cards the Jays have going into the season. If they get a couple "Babe Schneider" type breakouts it will really go a long ways to breaking 90 wins. Even if these players can't sustain it long term (Schneider may not) it'll keep the team afloat for another season with the pitching and defense they have.
  9. SP Snell SP Montgomery SP Bauer SP Urias SP German SP Ryu RP Brasier RP Neris RP Robertson RP Fujinama RP Stanek RP Fulmer RP Loup C Sanchez 1B Urshela 2B Rosario 3B Chapman SS Anderson LF Pham CF Bellinger RF Taylor DH Soler Bench - Meadows, Grandal, Hicks, Kemp
  10. German would be some nice pitching depth for sure. I mean, I'd instantly pencil him in as the Jays #5 prior to spring training. Would be a solid insurance policy against injuries and/or any other starters completely s***ing the bed ala Kikuchi/Berrios in 2022 or Manoah in 2023.
  11. You should really make another 5 or 6 posts about it because the first 5 or 6 weren't enough.
  12. That's what Chapman did last year, signing with the Royals and ended up winning the WS with Texas.
  13. If the Jays were to sign Bellinger I would expect him to play the bulk of his time at 1B with Vlad being the primary DH.
  14. Richards is probably the reliever I'm most concerned about. He's not a fireballer so he has to be pretty much perfect to not get his ass handed to him, when he's on though the swing and miss is top notch.
  15. Abreu, Pressly, Hader Dayum
  16. Yeah for sure. I do love that idea of an on paper lights out back end of the bullpen. Always feel like you just have to get to the the inning wit the lead and the game is yours.
  17. The allure of having a big name closer, but $19 million per year for 0.9 projected fWAR and a career high of 2.6 fWAR? Probably better ways to utilize that money if we're being honest.
  18. I remember in 2021 the jays had 7 top 100 prospects and most of them haven't done anything in MLB except get the jays MLB players from other teams in trades. Pearson, Martin, SWR, Groshans, Orelvis, Kirk and Moreno.
  19. Every time the Padres come up my brain goes into massive surprise blockbuster mode because they have so many "good" players who's values are tanked because of the terrible contracts they gave them, and they are supposedly cutting payroll. In comes big bad Ross AlphAtkins and his massive swinging dick to throw Rogers weight around and rape and pillage those poor bastards and somehow walk away with Tatis in his back pocket.
  20. Yeah I had last years team winning 95 games or more UT did not expect the tubby trio Vlad, Kirk, Manoah to crap the bed like that. Springer too I guess to a degree and even Varsho. Last year's team ended being a large group of 1 to 3 fWAR earners with no big stars pushing it over the top.
  21. Lucky for Whit varsho was here sucking up all the hate from the simpleton fans who loved to gobble Whits knob
  22. I think the Jays believe they have top 5 starting pitching and a top 5 bullpen, to go along with very high end defense. They actually have a legit shot at giving up the fewest runs in baseball next season I would think. To go with that they have likely a middle of the pack offense at worst, and with 2-3 or bounce back seasons from regulars maybe a top 10 offense or so?
  23. They gotta keep Soler off the field though. Just DH and hit the cover off the ball big boy
