Right?
There are so many legitimate things that are wrong with this ball club and it's management, why is this doorknob bringing up one of the few wins they've had recently, as a negative?
And using batting average to drive his idiocy home.
Oh man...
Someone this out of touch shouldn't be allowed to post here unless he's here to shut up and learn something.
Sportsnet comments section is more your speed.
Any person in the org who puts, agrees to put, or signs off on one of the worst hitters in MLB continually batting in the middle of the Jays batting order needs to fired for sure.
There is being loyal, and then there is being painfully stupid/stubborn.
I have no idea how Springer hasn't been stapled to the bench yet. It's almost July and he's sporting a historically bad OPS for a COFer.
It's madness.
They reportedly had discussions with every single free agent bat out there.
You can't MAKE free agents sign with your team.
And like I've said, none of them would have been enough to save this tire fire anyways.
Belt lol
Nobody signed Belt, and Turner had better projections anyways. look where that got us.
Unless someone knocks their socks off, I don't see Vlad or Bo getting traded, especially at the TDL.
Kikuchi, Jansen, KK, Yimi, Richards and Turner should all be dealt for every single prospect lotto ticket they can get.
It's not like they made a monumental shift to defense from 2022 to 2023.
They traded Teo and Gurriel. That's it
The problem is Springer went from 130 wRC+ to 100 wRC+, Kirk the same, Jansen 140 wRC+ to 115, Vlad from 135 to 115, and Varsho came over after 107 wRC with the Dbacks to 85 last year with the Jays.
That's a crap ton of bats that fell off and the FO expected (or hoped for) some of them to bounce back this year and they didn't. In fact most of them got worse and even Bo joined them.
I just keep coming back to the simple fact that everything would be much better if the core they'd chosen to build around had lived up to it's potential.
IMO Atkins built a good team around a rotten core.
A 5-7 WAR Vlad (which we had in 2022)
A 4-5 WAR Bo (which we had 2021-2023)
A 5-6 WAR catching tandem (which we had in 2023)
The big question is why did the core kool-aid turn rotten? Was it an inevitability (IQ levels, physical conditioning, etc) or is it something the Jays did to cause it (coaching, team philosophy, etc)?
That question needs to be answered for sure.
Swanson gave up 6 earned runs yesterday a third of an inning. 9 strikes on 19 pitches.
Rocking a 16.76 ERA since going to AAA
I remember at the start of the year trying to guess which one of last years solid relievers was going to s*** the bed this year, because you knew there would be one for sure.
Well, turns out I could have guessed any of Romano, Mayza, Swanson or even Green who's already had two IL stints and is on pace for like 35 IP lol
I thought it'd be Richards
I use to follow the Jays and I was just too optimistic on BJMB and had to go into hiding lol
Congrats to the doom and gloomers on all the losing the jays are doing lately.
