    We'll see what happens the rest of the day, but if the Jays damn bats can get going (especially Vlad) this team could still go on a crazy run. Added Soriano, Bieber had a few starts where he looked like he was back, Scherzer might be healthy and just had a solid 6 IP start, Miles now in the pen to go with the three headed monster (Hoff, Varland, Rogers). Little even looked decent in his last three appearances. Just a little bit of a hot streak from the offense and they might go on a tear here.

    Maybe Little is figuring things out? Last three appearances 4IP, 13.5 K/9, 2.25 BB/9, 2.25 ERA, 1.61 xFIP He's a cheap, controllable lefty reliever with elite swing and miss. Hopefully he comes around. The Jays also have lefty Javen Coleman in AAA now, and he has potential.

    Haha, yep. I'm still in the keep Hoffman camp. Good to give Gausman a shot at winning again, he deserves it. If he wasn't a pending FA I'd have wanted to keep him too.

    It's also doing Gausman a solid. The return was never going to be very good, but give Gaus another shot at pitching in the playoffs and maybe winning a WS, rather than holding onto him and letting him rot here with the rest of them.

    When the healthy the Dodgers 4-8 starting pitchers are better than 90% of the rest of the teams 1-5 starting pitchers. And then their 1-3 are Yamamoto, Skubal, Ohtani.

    I'm saying Keep Varland, Rogers and Hoffman, and try to build an elite shut down BP around them. It might not work, but I have more faith in that being a success than I would have faith in any return Rogers or Hoffman fetching becoming anything substantial.

    When you consider how uninspiring the return for Hoffman would likely be, I'd rather hang onto him. The Jays will still be trying to compete next year and he is 1/3rd of what has become a pretty deadly late inning trio for them in the bullpen. He's 15th in overall reliever fWAR in all of MLB. If you include Miles as a reliever the Jays have 4 guys in the top 25 reliever fWAR, but Miles is likely a starter next season. If they can dig up another high leverage reliever or two they could have one hell of a shut down bullpen next season.

    Yeah, the only thing you have to fall back on is what this team was able to do last year without Cease, Okamoto or Varland as the closer. Seems like a million years ago now though. All the main characters from last season just not getting it done.

    Relievers are mostly volatile voodoo so if the offer was juicy you certainly think about it, but I kind of want the Jays to run it back with this bullpen. (and finish the season with it) With Hoffman going they have just a deadly trio going now on the back end of it.

    Hoffman since mid May not counting today. 26.2 IP / 2.70 ERA / 2.63 xFIP Only given up runs in 3 out of 20 appearances.

    The Jays optioned the guy who has batted lead off in 5.5% of their games this season. Literally.

    He literally led off the last TWO games he played, but that doesn't make him their "lead off hitter". But I get it, losing makes fans insufferable and wanting to spin everything they can in a negative light.

    Yeah, im not saying he has tremendous value right now, but that weirdness yesterday didnt suddenly make him untradeable. Everybody knows what hes capable of and even as a quality #3 SP he's going to have value as a rental for a team in the race IMO We'll find out soon enough I guess.

    He's one of those fans that, from his armchair, knows more than the team president, GM, entire front office, coaching staff, medical teams and doctors. And as long as they haven't officially won a world series they're basically no better ran than the Rockies or Angels. Everything single thing they do needs to be questioned or else youre just sheep.
