    What a masterclass in how not to negotiate a long term extension this was from Atkins/Shapiro. The last half of this one is going to be painful and I hope I am wrong but I'm not sure Vlad has the profile to provide excess value in the early years due to his position and defensive/baserunning shortcomings.

    Someone needs to draw a $500 million dollar check on the inside half of the plate to draw his attention away from the outside junk.

    Torpedo bats have been around for far longer than two years. The new piece of this puzzle is that they are analyzing the swings and where the players hit the ball on the bat typically and fully customizing the placement of the barrel for their players. Brilliant if you ask me.

    I will go to my grave believing that Royals team was stealing/relaying signs in the late innings. Too many games where the bats came alive in the late innings.

    I have said it before and will say it again I am sure. The biggest failing of this front office has been the complete inability to draft and develop any pitchers. They haven’t even managed to draft and develop relievers even. Middle relievers should not be the types that you spend any money or trade assets on but this front office has had to time and time again due to this complete failing to develop ANYTHING.

    I was shocked to see how high his Caught Stealing Above Average was last year on Baseball Savant (97th percentile). He made some serious improvements despite a poor pop time.

    It's been a week, the power surge could just be small sample size. I hope it isn't and the fact there are mechanical changes that could be leading to it is a great sign.

    I had the same thought, then I realized somehow Ketel Marte had turned 31 already. I would have sworn he was barely older than Vlad.

    These are guys who already had generational wealth from their fathers. They had no need to negotiate a deal early for their long-term financial health.

    It was so close he probably would have been save had he run through it.

    Volpe, Jazz, Bellinger, Goldy and Wells are all using them. Stanton too when healthy although he may be blaming the bats for his injury too. Apparently it was suggested to Volpe when an analyst saw the most common spot he was making contact with the ball was lower on the bat so they adjusted it. I wonder how custom the bats are per each player and if they are moving the new sweet spot to suit each one of them best.

    I was thinking this morning that I miss the homerun contest that used to run. Then it dawned on me that the Yankees have as many homers in three pitches as we do in four games. I miss the long ball.

    Sugano feels like the guy of kind the Jays should hit well against but will still dominate them.

    And our two biggest additions this offseason ...Venezuelan. Venezuelan - Giminez and Santandar Cuban - Yariel Hopefully they have/can maintain green cards while playing for the JAys.

    I would be even more concerned about the future of the team if a fan petition had any impact on their front office positions.

    It’s cute that people think the organization that removed a dealing berrios after 2 innings in a playoff game was too afraid to rock the boat with Springer and move him down.
