  1. He has misread the off-season many years too either signing guys too quickly in soft markets where late deals are present or waiting too long and missing out in the years when the market moves faster.
  2. 2 million in bonus pool money on Jan. 16 has nowhere near the value of the 46th pick because 100s of players are already committed or signed by that point.
  3. This actually does make sense given the infatuation this front office has for defense only players. It’s still a bad trade given they could have had the contract for free or with other prospects attached(not sure 2 million in bonus pool does much post Jan 15)
  4. I can’t answer for him, but I can for myself. I have been a fan since being a kid in the 80’s. I hate what this front office has done the last couple of years to my favourite team in all of sports. I want to see them do better so desperately and I know that won’t happen with this front office. So I will complain and I will still watch. But Honesty, it was boring baseball for much of last year so if that persists my watching will decrease.
  5. Bigger question is as Phillies GM, why do you help your rival sign Sasaki for that?
  6. Straw was out righted off the Gaurdians roster last year. It was the kind of contract you should get prospects with for taking not one you give up a PTBNL. Let’s just hope the player was tied to if they signed Roki or not.
  7. The Straw trade was next level incompetence from Atkins.
  8. Even the 16 year olds were smarter than our front office about our chances.
  9. Taking on Straw’s salary to get international bonus pool money they won’t even use is just next level incompetence from this front office. They honestly probably could have got Cleveland to throw in a prospect just to take that dead salary off their hands. When you compare this to the Dodgers approach where they traded for the pool space AFTER Sasaki made up his mind despite being the 90% favourites it just further accentuated how bloody incompetent the Jays front office is. They are like the thirsty guy at the bar buying drinks for all the tens at the bar despite zero chance to go home with them. I wonder what 2s they will end up with.
  10. NL west teams are probably racing to the phones to offer up bonus pool money to the Jays at a discount.
  11. If I recall correctly, BP weighs upside very heavily. Given that, I am kind of Surprised Nimala isn’t on it. it’s definitely a list that had a lot of different names in different places.
  12. To be fair, Luis Robert probably won’t be standing due to injuries
  13. No thanks to that douche canoe
  14. There are some appealing things I can think of: 1. Daulton Varsho at CF and Giminez up the middle 2. Their facilities in both Toronto and Dunedin are among the best in the business. 3. Toronto still has direct flights to Tokyo and they are only 40 minutes longer than from San Diego. 4. a good chunk of the luxury housing hasn’t burned down recently in Toronto. 5. a dome may appeal to him
  15. Maybe he wanted to try the mound he might pitch 16 games a year from?
  16. I have seen some people claim he is using the Jays for leverage. There is no leverage here folks. His contract will be the bonus pool the teams have…there is no need to use another team as the price can’t be driven up.
  17. Seeing the news about Santandar considering short terms deals on the heals of the Hoffman signing makes me wonder if the Jays are getting up against their budget and allocated funds they were going to spend on Santandar on Hoff instead.
  18. It’s likely an issue for the Jays due to having to give up draft assets to sign him. If that turns out to be just one year that they have him that will hurt more. that being said, with how useless this front office is at drafting and developing they shouldn’t let that stop them.
  19. I wonder if how bad Springer looked in his age 34 season is impacting this?
  20. Where is the barf emote when you need it?
  21. This is not allowed in the CBA and I believe MLB has said they would penalize the team and void the contract if it was felt an agreement was made to circumvent the IFA limits.
  22. I would argue that last years team was done in by almost every inning in the early going being leverage in close games due to the lack of offense and good pitching and defense. There were very few laugher games. It caused way too much demand on the bullpen in the early season and they wore down early. Once the hitting came around our pen was atrocious due to the east overworking causing injuries and ineffectiveness.
