Given how pitcher injuries have skyrocketed I am really starting to wonder if the industry as a whole took a big swing and miss with all the babying of pitchers and light workloads in the minors are actually causing more injuries. There could be a couple of things at play:
1. You've got these guys going 3IP max and because of that they go max effort the full 3IP.
2. Guys get to the majors and are throwing 2-3 as many innings a game than what they have done through most of their time in the minors.
Of course the second can't be the case for Ricky, but maybe the first point is?
