  1. Don't pretend that you saw Otto Lopez producing anything like he has so far this season. This is a guy who produced a .656 OPS in a hitter friendly AAA league last season so he fully played his way off of the Blue Jays roster. I can only wonder if he made some significant changes under the hood with how hard he's been hitting the ball. If he keeps this kind of production up he'll end up feeling like one who got away but he didn't do anything to earn himself an extended major league opportunity. I just think Biggio guy receives more hate than is remotely necessary. He's far from exciting but he's a solid bench player who doesn't hurt the team and contributes a win per season or so. Who are the cash pickups and waiver claims that the team has picked up in recent seasons that have outproduced Biggio?
  2. Given the the fact you've made over 10000 posts kinda indicates that your identity is just as attached to a certain sports team as the rest of the regular posters on here.
  3. This is a little surprising but Kirk has low key been nearly as hot as Jansen has been with the bat since around the time that Jansen returned. Maybe more days off for Kirk is key to keep his bat fresh but since mid April he's produced a 174 wRC+ in 35 PA, vs 178 wRC+ from Jansen (increased a good amount to 198 wRC+ after tonight). I think that instead of playing Kirk even less the smart move would be more DH time for Jansen, whether that means a little more time at third base for Turner or a few more rest days mixed in for Turner as he's gone ice cold at the plate with only a 75 wRC+ in the same period of time.
  4. Jesus man what is wrong with you. You are like the ultimate buzz kill, lighten the f*** up for once in your miserable life.
  5. I really hope the Manoah from the first few innings of his last start shows up and the not the guy that was shelled later in the game.
  6. Maybe skipping Vlad wouldn't have been the best move.
  7. Hopefully he's finally earned some rope from the front office. I don't recall the team having a player make such a dramatic impact with the bat and then having the team literally looking for any possible reason to keep him out of the lineup instead of giving him a chance to see what he can do.
  8. Do you have some kind of issue with mid 40's dudes for some reason?
  9. He's basically a league average bat off of the bench who produces a win or so in about 300 PA per season. It would be great if he more resembled the player he was when he first came up I can't say I exactly see any minor league players in the system that have been blocked by Biggio's presence on the roster.
  10. Simple booing would never make the national news. That would take something like the crazies getting so mad that they storm the field or set the building on fire or something of that sort
  11. Biggio is a guy who is a solid bench player. When he's going well at the plate he finds himself in the lineup more frequently, and when he's not he largely rides the bench as has been the case recently. He's far from being a primary reason why the team has struggled to score given the offensive ineptitude of most of the top of the lineup so there's no need to expend so much energy hating on the guy.
  12. That's what Varsho has been, but it's far from a guarantee that's what he is moving forward. For what it's worth projection systems view him as a 105 wRC+ bat rest of season on the low end, to 116 wRC+ rest of season for his ZiPS projection.
  13. It's not arbitrary dummy. Varsho made a pronounced mechanical change and has reliably produced much better results since that point, that should be an easy to understand starting point even for you.
  14. That's possible that Varsho averages out as an approximately league average bat, but he's up to an 86 game sample size since implementing a toe tap last season and he's produced consistently good results since then. Since early August of last season he's produced a 116 wRC+ so it's not outside the realm of possibility that's about where he ends up this season. Since he implemented these changes he's yet to hit a prolonged slump such as the one which really ruined his overall season numbers so hopefully he can sustain this kind of production.
  15. Why would you say Varsho is a 85 wRC+ hitter when that's the outlier season in his career up to this point? Too many fans instantly assume a single bad season is the only one that counts because it happened in a Blue Jays uniform when they were watching and the previous more successful seasons basically don't exist because they didn't see it occur.
  16. I'd be totally on board with the team making a bold move and sacking Mattingly and replacing him with Matt Hague. Hague seems to largely be behind the success of the AAA crew and with how poorly the offense has been performing there really isn't much to lose.
  17. I would largely expect a rebuild behind the scenes similar to what occurred after the 2015/2016 teams reached their nadir. That didn't exactly prove to be the best strategy last time around as the team wasn't blown up when it became apparent the writing was on the wall, and likely won't be the proper strategy this time around either.
  18. I felt he showed enough stuff and command wise that it was worth it to pick up the options. I think the TJ is largely a non factor at this point as the shoulder issue is something else altogether. Hopefully he's not out too much longer as the pen could really use another dependable arm right now.
  19. Posting online about the Blue Jays right now is about as enjoyable as attending a funeral for your favorite childhood pet. It seems that most of the fanbase has forgotten that a baseball season is 6 months long, and a team is never quite as good as they seem when they are rolling and never quite as bad as they seem when things are going poorly. I won't go pretending I'm not concerned about the recent skid the team finds itself in, but there is still time to correct course as Manoah aside the rotation seems to be rounding into form and the offense has been showing signs of life. The bullpen is a big concern right now as there is a definite lack of trustworthy options right now.
  20. You have so little self awareness that it's astounding. You are the poster child for ascribing all of Atkin's successes to "luck" so there's no reason to be patting yourself on the back.
  21. The Green deal still has plenty of time to work out for the team so I don't know why you feel the need to dunk on that signing at this point.
  22. This outing makes me wish Stuff+ results were broken down by inning. Alek appeared to be a completely different pitcher past the second inning or so. He flashed some really nice stuff and command in the early going including 95 MPH sinkers on the corners and some nasty sliders. His inning was already extended from the early Bo error and he suddenly lost his command and walked a bunch of hitters. He had a solid second inning where the stuff and command were both crisp, and then he started morphing back into the s***** 2023 version of himself where he had no command and his stuff completely backed up. Just a totally baffling outing given the extreme variance between where he started stuff and command wise and where he ended up.
  23. That would have depended on getting Rogers to actually open up the pocketbooks to allow the team to make more significant trade deadline acquisitions.
  24. I wonder if the team largely viewed Horwitz as trade bait given how they effectively blocked him with signings of Vogelbach and even Votto. Now with the team completely floundering it may actually make more sense to open a spot for Horwitz at some point, but that would mean moving one of Vlad or Turner to clear a spot for him.
  25. It's sad that this entire window never really fully opened and it largely hinged on whether a certain heavyset player developed into the franchise player he was seemingly destined to be. Atkins used to take a ton of heat for not extending his young superstar players, but he may have actually been wise in waiting to see what these two players actually were before signing them to long term mega deals.
