  1. The organization has one of MiLB's most stacked team's in AAA this season so the minor league system is actually not in nearly as bad of shape as you are implying.
  2. They were certainly hitter friendly but Vlad was the only dude that laid waste to those parks in that fashion. He was legitimately locked in for 5 months of the season and his wOBA and xwOBA values were almost perfectly correlated so he earned every bit of the gaudy statistics by mashing the s*** out of the baseball. On top of that Sahlen Field and TD Ballpark weren't even the most hitter friendly parks in MLB as all of Great America Ballpark, Oriole Park, Coors Field and Fenway were more hitter friendly that season.
  3. The team has played all of 20 games in the season so it feels a little premature to be making any sort of grand declaration about what the team's flaws will be over the course of the entire season. It's entirely possible that the team won't score enough to be a serious threat but once the RISP issues resolve they'll have a shot to score a pile of runs based on how many runners are making their way on base recently.
  4. It was nice to see them cruise to a victory for once. My only quibble was using Romano with a 4 run lead given that Romano might not be available tomorrow if the need arises.
  5. I've been really impressed by what we've seen from Rodriguez so far. This is huge given how so much of the prospective starting depth has already flamed out early this season.
  6. I wouldn't go so far to say that AA developed much in the way of starting pitchers as his entire tenure basically consisted of Marcus Stroman and a single good season of Sanchez as home grown starters.
  7. His overall numbers at Rogers Center were very good. He hit a 3 week slump when the club returned to Toronto but then cranked out a 190 wRC+ at home over the last 5 weeks of that season.
  8. Vlad also mashed in the Rogers center over the last 5 weeks of the season after the team returned to Toronto.
  9. I just found it to be an amusing ad.
  10. Sweet I just got an ad on this website for "special massage" featuring a stacked blond in a tank top.
  11. That was an awful play by Tatis Jr.
  12. I heard from someone on here that Yimi should have been let go last season to avoid having his $6 million vesting option becoming active. If he keeps anything close to this up he's going to be a massive bargain.
  13. I don't know if that was behind the massive spike in K's early on as I think he just wasn't seeing the ball very well
  14. KK looks a lot better at the plate since the homestand.
  15. He's basically showing that kind of velocity as a starter so far. Hopefully he can maintain that type of stuff over longer outings.
  16. YRod has shown better velocity so far than I was expecting.
  17. Holy s*** that was a good catch.
  18. We'll see how long he can keep that up with the 84.7 MPH average exit velocity.
  19. I was low key hoping that White would be able to carry forward the upper 90's heat from the end of the AAA season and spring training but unfortunately his stuff returned to previous levels pretty much as soon as the regular season started.
  20. Or Biggio. Or Vogelbach. Or IKF, or basically anyone else on the roster.
  21. That's an odd development as Kirk is literally the worst guy on the roster to park at first base given the fact that he's 5'8" with super short stubby arms that further limit his wingspan.
  22. Yeah that's perfectly f***ed up as it appears the guy might finally be reaching his potential as a late inning weapon and his reward is a demotion to AAA.
  23. Atkins has repeatedly struck gold with the shorter term signings but I fully agree he needs to start adding more long term core players to this roster if it's to be sustainable and if he is to have a chance to keep his job moving forward. They've generally gone after the right guys in free agency but have mostly been unsuccessful at landing the big fish and been forced to pivot to the shorter term fixes instead. I had the same observation as Laika earlier brought up that Vlad's quality of contact metrics are really solid this season, so hopefully this is something that eventually corrects itself over time and he starts receiving the type of results expected of the type of contact he's been producing. Perhaps the xWOBA model doesn't work for Vlad and he's the opposite of the guys who regularly outproduce their expected results. I recall seeing on a game broadcast that the opposition had already accumulated 5 OAA against the Jays so it stands to reason that Vlad has been victimized by some great defensive plays early on.
  24. Varsho has hit home runs in his last two games he started and has a 4 game hitting streak so I think he's earned a start or two.
  25. It's against the Rockies and he's only pitched 3.2 innings so far this season. Definitely off to a fantastic start, but don't get ahead of yourself.
