  1. Wasn't this the same guy that recently suggested there was zero chance Vlad was going to earn over $300 million?
  2. If I recall correctly Click is directly in charge of overall team strategy. The offense has became a weakness in recent seasons as the decision to become more balanced largely backfired, the minor league system has taken a large step back, and the organization finds itself at a major crossroads regarding it's short term and long term future. I don't really see a lot to suggest that Click has been particularly effective in his role based on how little we know about his actual duties. This feels similar to those who suggested that Mattingly should become manager after firing Schneider as Mattingly has not been particularly successful in his role as offensive coordinator. I don't see much of anything to suggest that Click actually deserves to be elevated to a new role vs becoming one potential candidate if the team decides to relieve Atkins of his duties.
  3. Another way to compare these guys would be to post their career averages up the age where Vlad sits at present. Freeman produced an average 131 wRC+ by the end of his age 25 season in 2015, vs the 136 wRC+ that Vlad finds himself at presently for his career. Freeman has generally been a much more effective defender and baserunner than Vlad but Vlad has a very realistic chance to eventually surpass the type of offensive output that Freeman has produced as Vlad has seemingly just hit his peak.
  4. This is just all full of assumptions. If the team is to hire a new GM I'd infinitely have them do an extensive search of MLB as a whole instead of just handing the reins to Click simply because he was a part of successful organizations.
  5. If Click is some sort of pitching development savant as you are suggesting why wouldn't his knowledge immediately be implemented by the organization? This literally makes no sense whatsoever.
  6. It's impossible for anyone outside of the organization to know if Click is part of the disease instead of some type of supposed cure. If he had all of the answers for the Blue Jays pitching development woes I would surmise that these would already be implemented by this point given how long he's been with the club. I actually think there are potentially enough higher ceiling arms in the minor league system at present to allow the team to eventually improve upon their pitching development. The key will be getting these guys healthy enough to continue their development and eventually have a shot to contribute to the major league team. The recent draft and trade deadline have Yesavage and Bloss as potential replacements in the short term to add to Macko, and the lower minors has players such as Barriera, Rojas, Maroudis etc. as potential longer term options if these guys can manage to get back to full health and remain on the field.
  7. The Blue Jays have produced a total of 484 weighted runs created. Vlad alone has accounted for 96 of these runs or 19.8% of the total. That percentage has been climbing as Vlad's bat has heated up. Vlad turned his season around near the end of April. From April 28 to current Vlad produced 83 of the team's 375 runs (22%). Vlad started launching home runs with regularity in early June. From June 3 to present Vlad has produced 57 of the club's 244 runs (23%).
  8. Better late than never.
  9. If he hits his ROS projections he'll end up right around 2 FWAR for the season. I think he'd be really hard pressed to even come anywhere close to matching the type of deal he's already signed to.
  10. I think Bellinger is unlikely to opt out as he really hasn't been able to recreate his 2023 level of success.
  11. Time to hand out the dreaded catcher of the future moniker?
  12. Thank goodness he's one of the few guys on the Blue Jays outperforming his expected numbers.
  13. Sure you could easily make the case it was unrealistic to expect Kiermaier to replicate his 2023 numbers, but I don't know if there was any reason to expect this level of dropoff. Including 2023 Kiermier produced an average 99 wRC+ over his last 4 seasons of play. Exclude 2023 and he still managed a 96 wRC+ over his previous 3 seasons. There wasn't really a reason to expect the 50 wRC+ that he ended up with so far this season as it literally came out of nowhere.
  14. I'm not sure how that makes a lot of sense. The trade was a 3 win outfielder for a 3 win catcher.
  15. Yeah I legitimately think he was ruined in the field by the flyball that hit him in the face. You could tell he was scared of the ball from that moment moving forward as he was always shying away from fly balls afterwards.
  16. McMahon is sitting at 107 wRC+ away from Coors this season. We shall see if he can put together another hot streak at the plate or if the current struggles continue as he's on track for a career season with the bat at this point.
  17. Holy s*** that sounds scary. My daughter is right around that age now and I can't imagine having to deal with something like that. Were there any lingering issues afterwards or is that fully behind your son?
  18. Wow McMahon has really fallen on hard times in recent months. I hadn't checked in on him for some time after the hot start. Mar/Apr 134 wRC+ May 106 wRC+ June 91 wRC+ July 91 wRC+ Aug -38 wRC+
  19. I've yet to watch him play in the field but his career numbers are legitimately awful in either corner.
  20. Or Loperfido could end up somewhere in between Fisher and Teo. Unlike Fisher he's already shown he can catch a routine fly ball, and he actually might be a very solid outfield defender at this stage which is something Teoscar never fully developed into given his propensity for defensive miscues. If Loperfido can find a way to more consistently make contact at the plate he has a chance to be a really solid player.
  21. Arozarena has been mashing for months and Turner had turned around his offensive game as well a few weeks prior to the trade as well.
  22. The team has a glut of young infield prospects they need to have a look at including Barger, Loperfido and Berroa at the major league level and guys like Roden and Clase in AAA so there are limited innings available in the outfield.
  23. Did you mean to say Will Wagner? He's been starting at second base for Buffalo so far. I wonder how the team would handle his playing time if brought up to the majors? Horwitz largely seems to entrenched at second base, but perhaps Vlad could spend more time at third base, and there should be plenty of DH at bats available as well.
  24. Are you referring to the early pull in the playoffs? It seems like a bit of a stretch to suggest that an early pull in the playoff suddenly make Berrios's pitches far more hittable and for him to lose his ability to garner swings and misses.
  25. I vote Judge. He's produced all 7 of his WAR in the last 3 months and has reached a new level of performance.
