  1. Do you have some sort of inside information? Your posts certainly imply that to be the case, just wondering if you have an actual inside scoop or if this is largely conjecture.
  2. There are typically very few moves made at this point of the season so it's sort of impossible to know if Atkins has been held back at this point.
  3. Yeah the Jays AAA hitters in Buffalo have really mashed this season but it's impossible to know how much credence to give to the numbers. At the very least the guys getting called up have shown pretty good plate discipline for the most part as the swing decisions have largely been pretty good.
  4. Which one though? I for one don't know who is primarily to blame for the offensive ineptitude and multitude of underperforming hitters. Do you can the whole works of them? Just keep the promoted AAA coaches as the Buffalo guys are largely the only guys performing to their talent levels? Do you fire the advanced scouting crew, or the nerd department? Is Mattingly going to be scapegoated for the offensive woes and everyone else gets a free pass?
  5. I almost never watch games live so I very rarely post in game threads as they happen. It's pretty hard to defend the performance of the club this season aside from a few bright spots, and in this game in particular the lineup composition to allow more offense really bit the club in the ass.
  6. I infinitely would have rather just left Pearson in to face Devers as the worst he could have done was brought the Red Sox within 1, and Pearson vs ONeill is a far better matchup than having Mayza who gets absolutely lit up by right handed bats.
  7. I believe that AAA will be switching exclusively to the challenge system at some point which will hopefully make it a little easier to determine which prospects are legitimate performers moving forward. They'll have to largely deal with s***** human umpires like in MLB.
  8. Thornton legitimately looks like a good reliever now but Cimber appears to be cooked.
  9. This season was the first time in the Shapkins era I wasn't really worried about the state of the pen headed into the season as for once it felt like there was a solid core of relievers at the major league level and depth working it's way up through the minor leagues. It's pretty crazy how the pen turned from a likely strength to complete s***. I for one wouldn't have guessed that all of Romano, Swanson and Mayza would have suffered from injury and/or dramatic loss of stuff while seeing their results completely go in the shitter seemingly overnight. There are a few bright spots such as Pearson slowly beginning to realize his potential and Garcia turning into a late inning weapon but aside from that it's been massively disappointing.
  10. With a few of the mid tier bats the offense could probably be more in the vein of average vs one of the league's worst but that's probably about the best that would have happened barring a Soto or Ohtani type of acquisition. The pitching has been so poor as a whole that nothing other than a 1993 Blue Jays stacked line up would have given this team much of a shot for competition.
  11. I was willing to keep an open mind and wait and see what unfolded before making judgment, but it's hard to view Mattingly's time as offensive coordinator as anything but an abject failure. There is definitely something very wrong with the offensive preparation for this team given how this is a second consecutive year of seeing so many players post career worst seasons at the same time and it's high time for a progressive outside voice to be brought aboard. Guys like Vlad, Bo, Kirk and even Springer shouldn't be producing as poor of results at the plate as we've seen the last few seasons and it's of utmost importance that the right people be brought into the organization to get the best out of these players if the team is to even have a puncher's chance at any type of competing next season.
  12. It appears as though Barger has calmed down the chase tendencies in his second stint with the big league club. In his first trip to the majors he swung at 48% of pitches out of the strike zone, and in his return trip he's improved this to a much better 30% chase rate.
  13. It's not remotely true that there were no changes made to the coaching staff as there were a lot of changes made particularly on the offensive side. Mattingly was elevated to offensive coordinator, Hudgens was demoted, and Hague was promoted from AAA to the major league coaching staff. Further additions were Hale as bench associate manager and Febles as infield coach/third base coach. The results on the offensive side of the ledger haven't been there but it's not like they just ran back the same staff from the year prior.
  14. Yeah there are just too many issues with this team to realistically expect much of a run out of them. The bullpen is in shambles due to injury and underperformance, the rotation has been shaky as of late, and it seems that the offensive lineup always features half of it's members simultaneously in the midst of a deep slump.
  15. Yeah his type of high octane arsenal isn't exactly conducive to long term arm health.
  16. You misunderstood what I meant, I simply meant the team should admit the season is likely lost and sell off the impending free agents at the trade deadline, not that they should blow things up and enter full on tank mode. There is still an opportunity to retool for 2025 and if the team can attain some MLB ready pieces that's a good start for next season.
  17. The 2023 team was still a good team. This year's team is bad at basically everything aside from fielding a lot of good defenders.
  18. Do you have some kind of list available? I don't recall there being a ton of failed tests for either regime.
  19. Schneider is probably low key relieved he doesn't have to come up with excuses for why he continues to play Springer and KK every day instead of a younger player.
  20. That's probably the reason Orelvis was taking this substance in the first place. If you are going to be popped for PED's and were knowingly cheating you would just take steroids or something more powerful than a SERM.
  21. Ultimately having the team go in the tank they way they have can be a blessing in disguise vs hanging around the .500 mark approaching the deadline. Barring a completely miraculous extended winning streak this team appears to be done like dinner.
  22. We don't really have recent history to go off of in terms of trading veterans for prospects so who knows what to expect in terms of return. The team has been a buyer at the deadline for the last 4 years so it's been a long time since veterans were moved out in trade for prospect types.
  23. Depends on the potential return. If Bo is valued as a buy low asset by other GM's who want to poach him for pennies on the dollar you have to hang onto the guy, but if someone wants to pay the requisite price for a consistent 4-5 win player you have to consider it.
  24. Do you somehow think that the likes of Horwitz, Barger and Orelvis were added to the roster to improve the defense?
  25. I believe the preferred terminology in the wrestling business is enhancement talent.
