  1. Poor dudes might drown or die from hypothermia.
  2. More realistic Blue Jays injury scenarios include slipping on the dugout steps and having a bunch of bats fall on their heads.
  3. Would this be something that's expected to scale in effectiveness on a directly proportional relationship with time spent in a cold environment? Or would there be a sliding scale of returns that would eventually diminish over time?
  4. Absolutely. This could be a really powerful strategy if one were to incorporate appropriate supplements to convert white fat to brown fat along with a reasonable fat loss diet.
  5. Pun obviously intended. This line is one you should incorporate into your signature.
  6. I think it's likely some of both. The body burns a ton of extra calories in thermogenesis when trying to warm up in cold environments as brown fat is activated in this process. A cold swimming pool/lake would have virtually limitless amounts of available heat transfer compared to something like a bath tub which would eventually warm up.
  7. Holy s*** you sound like you could have taken up a career as a pro wrestler or something. Congrats on the weight loss so far. I was never super heavy but still managed to drop about 50 pounds of fat back when I was in my 20's which made a dramatic difference to my smaller frame. I've never really managed to add as much muscle as I was hoping for but felt so much better about myself at the lower weight.
  8. No this is something that's been circulating today. Someone is this thread posted about it earlier hence my disclaimer about this information being unverified.
  9. At this point railing a bunch of cocaine would likely be better for my heart compared to the stress of waiting on an Ohtani decision.
  10. LOL it's not like extra fat stops your body from feeling pain in your joints.
  11. Yeah it's crazy how frugal the guy was. And on top of that he lived in the team dorms as he was strictly eat sleep baseball. The guy will likely be a billionaire by the time he retires so hopefully he has since allowed himself to actually spend some of his money.
  12. Brett Gardner probably would have looked pretty badass with a full on viking beard and would have fit in perfectly on a Vikings tv set.
  13. That's certainly possible but only Alek would know what he feels happening with his body. His stuff and command both cratered so dramatically that I would not be surprised in the slightest if he was negatively affected by injury. Who knows whether this was a since resolved shoulder injury he showed up with in spring training that altered his mechanics, or an ongoing injury that was having this effect. It seems everyone wants to just assume the worst with the guy but we haven't had a chance to hear his side of the story as Alek and his team have gone full radio silence on the matter.
  14. I watch the majority of my sports in recorded fashion. My work schedule often gets in the way of being able to watch live and this allows me to watch the entire event instead of only a portion of it. Plus I get to skip commercial breaks and studio s*** as well between the innings/periods etc.
  15. There is so much smoke circulating it's hard not to be really excited about the possibility. There is a flood of circumstantial evidence (much if not most of it unverified of course) that it's increasingly painting a picture of Ohtani potentially signing with the team. This includes: -ex Blue Jay Vernon Wells posting about knowing something juicy about Ohtani -Ohtani flying to Dunedin to check out training complex -same plane Ohtani uses flying from Anaheim to Toronto -tons of online chatter with various insiders claiming Toronto increasingly likely to get Ohtani -Kikuchi books entire sushi restaurant for tonight -Yamamoto says he wants to play with other Japanese players and requesting meeting with team -Asian buyer looking to snatch up several super high end Toronto area properties simultaneously
  16. I figured he'd be more of a White Castle kind of dude.
  17. I am so wrapped up in the Ohtani saga it's almost frightening. I can't help but envision the collective frenzy of ecstasy the fanbase is going to erupt into if he signs with the Jays and the collective meltdown of the American sports media, but at the same time if he signs elsewhere there will be a catastrophic meltdown of the Blue Jays internet sphere and the fanbase will go into mourning.
  18. Careful now Jaysblue (apparently he's taking over the role of board mother) is going to give you a scolding if you are up this late.
  19. I would have loved for the Jays to been able to trade for Carroll as well but unfortunately Moreno wasn't in the same stratosphere value wise. This should have been apparent when comparing the numbers of their respective minor league careers as well as comparing what they did offensively during their initial cup of coffee in the majors. I read during last offseason that Carroll was deemed to be fully untouchable by the Diamondbacks and that was for good reason as he posted a 6 war season as a rookie compared to Moreno who wasn't able to crack the 2 win mark for his rookie season. The Moreno thumb injury was really unfortunate as it seemingly sapped Moreno off all of his power potential for several seasons afterwards, who knows what could have happened had the injury not occurred.
  20. Does Ohtani even live in Anaheim during the off season?
  21. Does this mean Ohtani is going to be sleeping with the fishes of he refuses the offer? It sounds like something out of a gangster flick.
  22. I think this is most likely being overblown and isn't as big a deal as it's being made about to be. Aside from catastrophic injury to one of the team's starters Manoah wasn't really going to be required anyway. It sounds like the guy and his camp might have actually thought he was legitimately injured.
  23. That would be the type of thing that would create serious bad blood with the agency and other organizations so it seems unlikely.
  24. I seriously think both Vlad and Manoah are really strong bets to have huge bounceback seasons so trading them for a rental could have ruinous effects for the franchise's long term health.
