  1. I guess I'll have to continue to bring up the fact that they didn't win the Wild Card despite being in a weak division, and finished 29th in attendance despite some good young pitching. AA was deemed the best GM in baseball by all the other GM's - y'know the guys who actually get paid millions to make baseball decisions for a living and know more than us. AA is like like Hansel from Zoolander - he's so hot right now. Those who are s***ing all over him while lauding the Shapiro/Atkins dragon look foolish.
  2. Great logic. Why don't we just sign every castoff GM/high level exec from every team with a bottom 10 payroll over the past 5 years? After all they were just handcuffed by bottom 10 payrolls. Some hidden gems in there. And in regards to your "top 10 since 2013" comment, that's ridiculous. First off it was 10th. No higher. 10th out of 30 is the "upper middle class" of payrolls. It doesn't guarantee anything. And in those 3 years where they gave him the 10th most payroll he made the playoffs 1 of those 3 years, which isn't amazing but is not bad either. And one of those "bad" years was 2013 when he put together a great team that was the pre-season World Series favorite. Unfortunately everything that could go wrong went wrong (Josh Johnson, Reyes injuries, etc). And if you say he only won in 2015 by selling the farm how can that be? I thought he sold the farm in 2013? Which means he's amazing at rebuilding the farm system if he was able to build it back up and sell it again 2 years later. But I'm sure you'll just ignore these facts, make some dumb comment meant to insult me and we'll carry on disagreeing. Besides all of that, we have the 4th largest market in MLB. We should have a top 4 payroll.
  3. But Shapiro has failed massively in Cleveland. Bottom line is, Indians didn't win, and were 29th in attendance. Fail at both. Why are we settling for someone else's castoffs? Shapiro's recent track record f***ing blows. AA on the other hand, just won executive of the year as voted by his peers, who no offense, know a lot more about baseball than either of us. So I'm not going out on a limb when I say that AA was a helluva lot better than what we are stuck with now.
  4. OK if we do something along the lines of Shields for Revere I'd be pretty pumped
  5. Yay lets load up on s*** players who weren't tendered as our depth pieces. This is so exciting, and so par for the course for Rogers
  6. So looks like Navarro is OK with not getting full time reps - him and Avila will have to split time. Wonder how much he signed for? If its not much I wish we re-signed him.
  7. This place is so f***ed right now. And I'm not talking about the new posters.
  8. Funny how you hated on AA every chance you get, yet you are so supportive of Shapiro. I hope you are right but I won't hold my breath. I'm not a fan of Smoak at 3.9 million.
  9. Price went 9-1 in those 11 starts and was the #1 reason we won the AL East instead of the Wild Card based on his performances against the Yankees.
  10. I was initially frustrated with the signing. I still will be if this turns out to be our "big splash". My reasoning is, I felt like this season we turned the clock back to the early 90's in terms of fan base. We sold our our last 25 or so games, didn't we? Tripled our TV audience? There is a rabid fan base here just waiting for a big signing...and then this, which also seems to signal that we won't be in on Price. I feel like we just went from 1993 to 2010 in terms of fanbase in one day. Everyone was hoping that after all the money Rogers made last year that they would finally realize they didn't need to cheap out to make money. There are fans here who are prepared to step up and support the team appropriately when big money is spent. JA Happ just seems like someone we would have signed 5 years ago. And then if we don't even make a play on Price, who wants to be here, its a slap in the face to the casuals who jumped back on the bandwagon after 20 years off. I know you guys don't like the casuals, but we need them. If the Jays end up missing the playoffs this year because of Rogers not taking that last little step its going to be terrible for Rogers. Viewership could fall back to the numbers from before last year, and same with attendance. I don't think Rogers is making the right move here. Now if they somehow still go out and sign Price, then I take this all back...
  11. This thread has gone full cray-cray
  12. I still can't believe that it took the turn it did. Especially after all the other s*** that gets said around here that no one reacts to. I'm steamed because of the double standard. I'm hitting the sack.
  13. maybe you could do me a favour and side track this thread with some of your usual anti-AA hate?
  14. I'm sorry about that, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  15. Please explain where i said you were weird and bipolar? What the hell is going on here? I just called Grienke a weirdo. Seriously, of all the s*** that is said on this message board, I call Grienke a weirdo and you freak out? When did this place become so PC that calling a player weird is compared with racism?
  16. Maybe save that comment for the people calling it an embarrassing thread. You don't think that's kind of harsh? Besides, when did you become such a law abiding citizen?
  17. You will now be on ignore. Congrats!
  18. lol. Wow, of all the s*** said on this message board, I say the word "weirdo" and that sets you off? Nah I'm good, thanks.
  19. These same clowns s***ing all over will do the same again if he signs here. Sadly i feel the offer wont be there. It takes 2 to tango.
  20. you know who needs to leave this thread? The couple of ass clowns like you who keep trying to derail it with comments like this. Even though its a far out there idea, there are a few people here who are actually discussing this. No one is forcing you to post here, so f*** off.
  21. I know its not the best for the team 4 or 5 years from now, but its best for the team now, so f*** it. Flags fly for ever. Even pennants. If Price re-signs I will be f***ing ecstatic, and the feeling around town will be through the roof.
  22. Grienke seems like a weirdo. No idea how he'd fit into the clubhouse. Price was a fantastic teammate and everyone already loves him. That is worth something. Give me the scooters over the bipolar guy any day.
  23. I know, I know, this is crazy. This is a massive, huge, ginormous stretch. The only reason I thought of it is because of the reports hinting that Price wants to re-sign with the Jays. I don't think Shapiro would give him a 7 or 8 year deal however, even if Rogers opened the purse strings for it, so the only way Shapiro would re-sign him would be on a short term deal. So hear me out: There are a LOT of big name pitchers available this year, all competing for the same dollars. Next year the FA pitching market is much thinner. Much less competition for the big bucks, he could theoretically get more, and he'll still only be 31. What if Price was willing to sign a 1 year, $30 million dollar deal to pitch for the Jays? He could take out a large insurance policy on himself for this upcoming season in case he got hurt and his value dropped. And if he stayed healthy and pitched another year like this year, he could get even more money. I'm going to assume most of you would be on board with this, as the only issue most would have with giving price huge money is that later on he won't be worth it....is there anyone who would be against it? I realize it has about a 0.1% chance of happening, but how cool would it be if I ended up calling this?
  24. I'll grant you that there is a chance that Chavez puts up a season like Estrada just did - about a 0.0001% chance. However he also could be a decent #5 guy. But $5 million for a decent #5 guy, when we have cheaper options like Hutch to fill that roll is a waste of money. My prediction for Chavez, if he is used as a starter for most of the year: .500 pitcher 4.25-4.50 ERA, FIP around 4.00. Nothing special. A guy who shouldn't be relied upon for much.
