  1. Espinal has a great arm. Honestly think him and Bichette should flip flop at SS next year.
  2. You can see where Charlie is in the pecking order.
  3. If it gets to Gurriel I would love to see Moreno pinch hit to get his clock up for tomorrow.
  4. If Beasley is rested I think they'll call him right back up.
  5. If Tapia could play baseball he would be more popular than Guerrero.
  6. Pearson is on his high intensity twice a month throwing program. He might be even more fragile than Merryweather.
  7. I can picture Romano getting warm in the 9th.
  8. Merryweather, Gage, Richards should wrap this up.
  9. Hyde knew the call all along, he just wants Manoah to get cold. Dude is playing 8D chess. Oriolytics.
  10. When Chapman comes back Biggio needs to be taking outfield ABs away from Tapia.
  11. If the infield always played in, Guerrero's batting average would be 1.000
  12. Tigers have like a 1% chance to win the division, Jays have about 20%. If the Yankees lose 1 or 2 key players those probabilities can change dramatically. It's June. It's not mental gymnastics because the Yankees have historically had a lot of injury problems and about half their starting lineup is made of glass.
  13. The Yankees have built up a huge lead, but their top performers are also very injury prone (Stanton, Judge, Donaldson, etc.). The only true health red flags on the Jays are Springer and Ryu (and to a lesser extent Jansen). One or two bad breaks for the Yankees and the division could turn into a dogfight quicker than you think.
  14. Lefty on the mound tomorrow. Zimmer will be in LF and Tapia will be DH. Kirk on the bench.
  15. They're not exactly ramping him up either. He pitches like once a week.
  16. Biggio officially has a higher wRC+ than Teoscar.
  17. This is the kind of old school sabermetrics thinking that led the 2000s A's to make the playoffs every year and never win a playoff series. There are absolutely teams that are set up for success in the playoffs. How much prospect capital you choose to risk to build that team is the only question here. I'm not saying trade Moreno for an expensive closer, but if management thinks now is the time for a championship, moves will need to be made.
  18. Intentional walk on 1-2 would be considered a dumb move back in 1995. It's not some sort of old school veteran move. And honestly, Montoyo is a young manager that makes decisions on a daily basis that are pretty stupid.
  19. Last year the team was fighting to make the playoffs. With the new wildcard format the Jays are like 95% likely to make the playoffs. If the front office is seriously pushing to win a World Series this year, they'll need to add at least 1 and possibly 2 elite bullpen arms and a replacement bat for Tapia's PAs. There is absolutely no way a team with this bullpen wins the World Series. The 2015 team had 3 elite guys (Osuna, Hendriks, Cecil) and an entire second wave of guys that are just as good as our setup guys (Aaron Sanchez, Latroy Hawkins, Mark Lowe). If we're lucky, some of these pieces might be internal (Pearson, Moreno). I think they'll make a final decision closer to the trade deadline.
  20. You don't want your catcher to be tall. It's much harder to receive the baseball and can take a toll on your knees. Height was the number one long term concern for both Joe Mauer and Matt Wieters as prospects. Kirk's weight is a serious long term issue, but he does appear to be losing weight each offseason.
  21. Another game that ends with the Rocket waiting on deck. Charlie's gonna get a lot of tough questions after the game.
  22. Is Tapia a Boras guy? Might need to lock him up soon.
