  1. That was the same s***** call that got Lawrie suspended years ago.
  2. It's a fine line but bench coaches need to be riding the ump a bit more. A lot of umps will give makeup calls (or at the least stop f***ing up) if you let them know.
  3. Charlie's moves are so weird sometimes I wonder if he's a secret genius.
  4. If Kirk's spot comes up in a meaningful situation Charlie will be answering some questions after the game.
  5. You can tell Montoyo trained with the Rays. His management style is so complicated.
  6. Catchers used to plant their throwing hand behind their back to protect the old meat hook. Buck is absolutely right current catchers have garbage fundamentals. Gary Sanchez is an embarassment behind the plate.
  7. He also used to routinely catch 130-140 games every year. Guy's a mutant.
  8. Every single executive in baseball with payroll flexibility makes that trade, and gives up huge talent on top of the money.
  9. Twins as an organization emphasize framing the s*** out of the low fastball.
  10. I wonder if Charlie will pinch hit McGuire for Jansen.
  11. I really don't understand bringing in arguably your best reliever in this situation. You're giving a free look to the heart of their order when you might need him later in the series.
  12. Good bullpen usage by Montoyo so far. If the score doesn't change hopefully he brings in Soria instead of Cimber or Richards.
  13. Borucki was walking the ballpark in AAA. Saucedo needs to come back as the mop-up lefty as soon as he's eligible.
  14. Grichuk is being used exactly as his performance warrants, a weak side platoon and defensive replacement. Don't let a 15 PA blip fool you into investing more PAs into a proven out factory like Grichuk.
  15. Exactly the point. Cash is so married to simple analytics he thinks the aggregate third time through the order penalty is more predictive of Snell's future performance than an ace spinning a historic dominant outing. Then he brings in a broken reliever in Nick Anderson because he thinks a large sample size of good relief during the regular season is more predictive than 10 recent outings in a row of getting destroyed. Cash is a clown because he applies analytics without thinking. Montoyo is a clown because he doesn't seem to have a plan at all.
  16. We've known about Pythagorean winning% since the 1980s, and Cash is one of the biggest stat-tard managers in baseball. There's no way he doesn't realize the guy chasing him in the standings is underperforming his record. Rays FO definitely playing 6D analytics through the press. Or Cash is just being nice to an old friend, whatevs.
  17. Pretty much everyone not named Trout will need a lot of luck and work to make it from a young age. Machado and Harper are pretty safe bets among guys in their 20s. And in a couple of years we'll probably be saying the same thing about Acuna, Tatis, and possibly Guerrero.
  18. Soto's power is the only thing that isn't plus-plus elite. He sprays the ball like Trea Turner, he draws walks like Joey Gallo, and he has the batting IQ of Manny Ramirez. He's doesn't need to improve anything, but he's still young enough to learn to loft the ball. Re: Soto vs. Guerrero, the safe bet is definitely Soto. Any player that dominates the league starting as a teenager is historic until proven otherwise. For comparison, Vlad was a year away in the minors at an age when Soto was carving up big league pitchers. However Guerrero's ceiling is still higher. His raw power and bat to ball ability is just something you're born with, and Soto is just a step below.
  19. Juan Soto will be a Hall of Famer. I've never felt that way of any 22-year old since Trout, and maybe Machado. He's such a great, complete hitter and relies so little on defence or baserunning to provide value. He could switch to DH for the rest of his career starting today and still provide elite value.
  20. They should get him reps at CF. Dickerson is not a CF and Grichuk is not a hitter.
  21. Exact look that Eric Hosmer gave to a similar pitch from Stroman when he was a rookie.
