    If we have the financial flexibility, now might be the time for a classic Anthopoulos-style team friendly contract. Guerrero is basically begging for an extension coming off a down year.

    I think we're out of roster space for the near future. In my opinion White needs to stay up to cover one of the Yankees games. The only guy with options is Pop, who is clearly more reliable than Pearson until proven otherwise. If you option Pop now, you've basically lost him for the rest of the regular season. I think they need to keep Pearson down until an audition during the final series of the season at the earliest. Maybe even just the final game. That way you keep Pop for the stretch run, and you can still roster both of them for the playoffs.

    We need to address the elephant in the room which is that the team has burned through most of the financial flexibility we gained since our last competitive window. We have about $120 million in guaranteed salaries in 2023 (not counting arb). $75 million of that is allocated to Springer, Berrios, Kikuchi, Ryu, and Grichuk alone. For arb eligible players, guys like Bichette, Guerrero, Teoscar, and Romano are due for big raises. Signing Guerrero to a lifetime mega-deal is already a risk from a performance perspective, but I honestly question if we even have the financial flexibility to fill the rest of holes on the team if Vlad starts making $35 million.

    Miguel Cabrera and Boog Powell are excellent comparables. A few others in my opinion are Jack Clark, Harmon Killebrew, Prince Fielder, and Gary Sheffield.

    Bichette is a great player, but this is the only season of his career that he deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Soto. They are on completely different levels.

    There are a lot of players with comparable offensive production at a young age who never became Hall of Famers. The closest thing to a surefire Hall of Famer at age 23 is Soto (and Trout before that). Guerrero is not on that level.

    You call me dumb but can't recognize a fastball. 94 in the center of his butt. Perfect control all night. Terrible hollywood job after the pitch. First batter after Bo got hit. A lot of payback comes against the catcher, especially with the DH. Every single piece of evidence tells me that was intentional.

    I think the opposing pitchers are giving Pujols a lot of "respect" too. Nobody talks about it, but guys like Jeter and Ripken would get fed BP meatballs during their farewell tour.

    The Rays bullpen is even more decimated than ours. They're calling up a AAA shitballer to start today. Taxing their bullpen early in the series will set the entire tone because they won't have a chance to recover. Also Berrios' start might be the most important of the entire series.

    I think banning the shift will have the opposite effect because it rewards players who don't change their hitting approach. You will never, ever see a hitter like Tony Gwynn or Wade Boggs again.

    With Romano needing work, off-day tomorrow, and 4th time through the order with Ruschman, going to Romano is an easy decision here.
