  1. WHY? He's a career 106 wRC+ player, who put up a wRC+ of 99 last year and projects at 97 for 2017. You don't need to find ways to keep his bat in the lineup. He's been a great player throughout this career because he's a good defensive catcher.
  2. Holy f*** you're stupid.
  3. Morales can play 1st (just as EE could). Russell Martin should not DH on his days off.
  4. We'll that settles that.
  5. The Rockies FO appears to be incredibly stupid.
  6. Checks roster...yep - Barney is still on the team. We're good. Harrison/Lawrie are really only needed if we use Travis as the centerpiece in a trade.
  7. Could you stipulate that Lawrie can't look like a vampire on coke anymore?
  8. Take out his worst month in any of his previous 4 years and the baseline changes...
  9. I can look up WAR totals on fangraphs like a champ! Christ - Barney was too in 200 fewer PA's
  10. Harrison was more valuable than Bautista last year. Between him and Barney, they could supplement Travis
  11. Good point. Starting pitchers have no extra time on their hands
  12. 4 years of Travis for 2 of Cutch? I think I would. Harrison projects to replace Travis nicely too.
  13. Then you probably wouldn't have signed him and we probably wouldn't have been a playoff team the past 2 years. We had a legit shot at winning the WS the past 2 years. I'm not trading that for anything. The issue is - the way we built the contender isn't sustainable....now we have to make the necessary adjustments. Here's hoping Russell is healthy this year. I expect a mild rebound with the bat (wRC+ in the 105-110 range) and for him to be solid defensively.
  14. Why would Pittsburgh want Tellez when they have Bell? Why would they want JD Martinez (although the idea of giving up Zeuch, Pompey and Greene for Cutch and Wilson is nice). What about this deal? to Pittsburgh Devon Travis Joe Biagini Jon Harris to Toronto McCutchen Josh Harrison Anthony Bastardo Pittsburgh clears a ton of $$ off their books, adds a young, controllable, good second baseman and they can convert Biagini to the rotation. Toronto adds Cutch without giving up Stro. Harrison can replace Travis at 2nd and they get a lefty for the pen. Thoughts?
  15. Pujols was done being an elite bat like 3 years ago.
  16. fify - it's easier on your health if you look at it this way.
  17. I was going to post something along these lines. If you thought the way we were built would create a sustainable winner - you need to remove the rose coloured glasses. We're like Detroit right now. We might be able to patch it up and hang on for another year, maybe not. But long term, we're screwed unless we start to make some changes.
  18. Look bud - it's widely accepted that the vast majority of fans (STH, die hards or bangwagon fans) have absolutely NO f***ING IDEA how to construct a winning baseball team. Making decisions based on what will please the fans is the first step to failure. David Price is a great example. Many "fans" were pissed right off that the Jays didn't even offer Price a contract and complained when he signed with the Red Sox. Then they watched him start off slow and stopped complaining. The pendulum has swung so far that I've heard multiple people quote his high ERA and suggest the Jays dodged a bullet with that contract - suggesting he's already declining. They have no idea he was just a little unlucky last year and was still the stud he's always been. Bottom line - fans are typically stupid. Accept it.
  19. BAM - spot on. Are Angel fans packing the stadium because they signed Pujols and Josh Hamilton long term?
  20. AA also took Deck McGuire over Sanchez/Syndergaard in that draft (and instead of Chris Sale and Christian Yelich). That said - AA did a great job of rebuilding the farm system (and taking advantage of loop holes in the CBA). A few of the guys doing all the dirty work for AA are still with the team (Tinnish included), so it will be fun to see what Shatkins can do over the next few years.
  21. You really give a f*** about what a bunch of dumb bandwagon fans think about Shapiro?
  22. This looks like a thread on reddit. So much f***ing stupid.
  23. So you can't fault Edwin and his agent for mis-reading the market - but you will criticize the Jays FO?
