  1. Heyman reports the Mets seriously considered giving up Conforto for 1 year of JD Martinez before ultimately backing down. No idea why the Mets would trade an OFer for another OFer (when they are loaded there), unless they were moving Martinez to 1st base or something. Interesting though. Jays need to pry Conforto away from the Mets.
  2. I believe there's actually studies that suggest working fast reduces the chance of injury. From everything I've read, there's no advantage to working slowly. Pitchers are just dumb.
  3. Well that explains who their audience is then...No wonder I can't stand watching them.
  4. IMO, it's nearly impossible for Smoak to produce a higher WAR and Upton (or Pompey). His career high for a season is 0.7 WAR and he needed 520+ PA's to get to that. Pearce at 1st, Upton or Pompey in LF. Done. This is all a smoke screen because they want to ease Pearce back into a fulltime role.
  5. I think they simply plan on easing Pearce back into action and thus want to prop Smoak up a little in the meantime. Personally, I want to ensure Pearce is healthy enough to be playing everyday come August, September and October - so I support this approach. That said - I do think Morales can play some 1st base this year. I don't see why not (he probably would have the past couple of years on any other AL team if not stuck behind defensive genius Eric Hosmer )
  6. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/goodbye-to-the-least-enforced-rule-in-the-rule-book/ interesting article (IMO). I'm using this to promote my comparison of the NFL changing the extra point rule as well. I'm so smrt.
  7. Rule #1. The people you hear on TV and the radio are stupid. Stop listening to them.
  8. FFS - is this another one of those Shazaam jokes? Steve Phillips comes off as a massive tool.
  9. Found this - love Greg Maddux - this is cool. KB "do you still want the bat" Maddux "no"
  10. I'm not sure there's anything I like to see more than Tulo raking. When Tulo is raking - the Jays are typically in flight.
  11. The movie was Kazaam and it stared Shaq - not Sinbad
  12. Stories on Goose Gossage remind me of when people quote or respond to the Dogg...don't give that f*** face any attention.
  13. I hate Rich Gossage. He makes a bunch of assumptions on 1 inning, 3 run league saves that both he and Mo recorded....then tells the guy interviewing him to go look it up because he obviously made the statement without having any idea what the facts were. I have no time for people like that.
  14. yikes - get him some of Rube Baker's playboys!
  15. I know we talked Capps a few days ago, but I really enjoyed this article and thought I would share. I swear I could watch the GIF of him throwing for a hour without getting bored. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/carter-capps-delivery-is-new-still-basically-against-the-rules/ He actually has a new delivery this year FWIW.
  16. With self check ins now it's even less likely anyone would notice...
  17. I got tickets to the April 29th game vs. TB. 200 level in LF, row 6 or something. I also got a pair for Canada day in section 509 and another pair in 237 (non-drinking). It was nice that for Saturday games, you can choose Jr. Jays tickets in the 200 OF or 500 level for half price. I think my 500 level Canada day tickets cost $45 total. The seats kinda of suck, but I like taking my son down to the Canada Day game for his birthday. I have to admit - most the weekend games I tried to get tickets for all had utter s*** for seats left. I was pretty disappointed.
  18. Well the first thing I'd be asking is if they'd be willing to start the year in AAA...
  19. Latos is at the top of the douch-o-meter. Right next to Lawrie.
  20. can't tell if serious.... I'm all for selling high on Happ too.
  21. What do people think about Woodman? 22 and striking out over 30% of the time in A ball last year. I've never seen him, but the stats suggest he's a dud.
  22. How on earth is Mat Latos only 29.....
  23. One normally would say "the rules" in response to your question; however, seeing as MLB reviewed and concluded what Capps does is legal - I now have no f'ing idea.
  24. I find it amusing that he digs into the rubber...only to hop off and push a second time off the dirt. Is there any word on whether he's looking to add a 3rd hop to his delivery?
