Poor Alonso. He took his flat swing path / line drive approach and scrapped it to become a flyball revolution hitter. The revolution is now over (with the onset of the high fastball) and now he's s***. I mean he isn't that poor....that one big year landed him like $20M - so he's laughin', but it's still a bit ironic.

I don't know if Tellez is going to be a ML hitter - or anything of value....but man - he has really improved his swing path and certainly given himself a chance to succeed. Kudos to him.

Barker is right (don't say that often). I'm pleasantly surprised he didn't justify this position by suggesting he'd have more protection...unsurprisingly, the comments on that video are pure AIDS - filled with people suggesting he be sent down or that he isn't hitting because naw protektion dawg. -

I agree Dick. I think his point is you could take a 1 year flyer on them and if you happen to 'hit' and think their success is sustainable, you could then sign them to a longer deal (instead of trading them at the deadline). I doubt there's much history of that happening successfully - but it is a possibility.

Fielder reached 5 WAR once. He averaged 3.5 WAR/year during his playing days (full seasons). Miggy averaged just over 5 WAR/year during his career (excluding the last few injured years). If Vlad is Fielder - all the hype was for not.

How do you know this? I thought there were multiple reports that he was 280 lbs in camp.

Still think it's a massive miss by the FO to not sign Pomeranz? 5.93 ERA, 5.77 FIP and injured (what's new?). Almost exactly what he did for the Red Sox last year.

I'm not going to lie - the excitement of Vlady being called up wore off pretty quick for me. This team is unwatchable right now - even with Vlady on it.
