  1. Montoyo must use a dart board to set the daily lineups. The lineups I make for my local league senior rookie team are more consistent. I don't know if that matters or not...
  2. Jays should sign Vlad up for the Biggest Loser show, then Dancing with the Stars. He'd be a hit! instant marketing world wide so he doesn't get lost in the abyss like Mike Trout.
  3. Mets have a nice group of young position players. Nimmo Alonso McNeil Conforto Roserio JD Davis (if the gains are real) Dominic Smith Solid core
  4. What's changed is instead of making low percentage strategic decisions, teams are using the available data and playing the percentages. Teams didn't utilize the shift until the early 2010's because they were ignorant and/or afraid the go against tradition and outside of particular situations with particular players, bunting, stealing and choking up with 2 strikes decreases your chance of success over the long term. There's new strategies (with the backup math) on how to construct a lineup...there's change all over the place. IMO, they don't talk about the new strategies being implemented by MLB teams - instead opting to question why the manager didn't bunt in that situation, or put the runner in motion, etc. It misleads the casual fans into thinking the manager's an idiot.
  5. Agreed. I don't think it would hurt to show some statistics explaining why strategy in baseball has changed. I mean we're now showing the overlay of where hitters hit ground balls now (to explain the shift). I mean it can't be that hard to justify a shift, even to the more old school fan out there when the batter hits 75% of ground balls to one side. Get the run expectancy chart up there regularly...show the ignorant fans why we aren't bunting or stealing in a particular situation. It's just so easy for fans to say "well they should have done this!" when whatever they chose to do (like hit away) fails. s*** fails in baseball ALL THE TIME. That's baseball.
  6. kiki came to play.
  7. Hey Blue - you're strugglin'
  8. Blackmon - yikes.
  9. Marlin's man is at the game. He's so weird.
  10. Man - remember when we thought we were getting Yandy Diaz for JD? So far it looks like he's made adjustments to that launch angle.
  11. Clay Buchholz (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. That's assuming the weather is okay. Buchholz will throw around 75 pitches Sunday and if it goes well he will likely join the Blue Jays' rotation after that.
  12. um...he was allowed to go back on adderall. He's been on it the past couple of years I believe.
  13. f*** guys - we've been no-hit through 6 innings like 3 times now. Montoyo's just throwing everything against the wall and hoping that something sticks.
  14. Are you trying to suggest the metric system is inferior to the imperial system? If so, you're going to lose this debate. It's also not 2005. You shouldn't call something gay.
  15. I don't know about that. If they build a middling, .500 team, history suggests they'll draw 22K - 25K per night. If they build a sustained contender, history suggests they'll be one of the best draws in the MLB. If you're the Owner - would you accept 2-3 years of 10K for the shot at Option 2? Or would you throw up your hands and demand they go back to Option 1?
  16. Where's Biggio playing defensively in AAA?
  17. You're forming opinions based on topics you know little to nothing about. That's really dumb. You don't know what the trade market was for Happ and have no idea if they got the best value (or little value) in return. The market suggests that rentals aren't fetching the type of prospects they used to (as teams have smartened up and learned not to give away assets like they used to). You should probably step back a bit and acknowledge that as fans, we have about 10% of the information the FO has. Judging their decisions based on what we know is really shortsighted. This FO seemingly has an excellent process - that's probably all we really can judge.
  18. There's no doubt that almost every team is using the high fastball to counter the lofted swing approach. Time for the batters to make the adjustment and remind pitchers why they 'used' to try and pepper the bottom half of the strike zone.
  19. Just our luck. We land a generational player and he eats himself into Prince Fielder
  20. They literally told me that meters that take everything (coins, cards & work off apps) have less coins and these could be considered a reduction to their scope of work or some s*** like that. I almost got up an left I was so dumbfounded.
  21. That's simple Boxy. Exotic pets are creepy. Nobody wants to live next to creepy guys with 5 foot long pet snakes.
