  1. That doesn't seem to be true for Grichuk. You could throw 3 in the dugout and strike him out.
  2. Chapman's the best defensive 3rd baseman in baseball, who looks to only be improving with the bat and is coming off a 6.5 WAR season at age 25. He's on pace for another 6.5+ WAR season this year. If you made that trade right now, you'd get 5 years of Chapman v. 7 of Vlady (I think - I'm sure you guys will correct me). 2 years means a lot - don't get me wrong, but if Vladdy's ceiling is Miggy - Miggy's only had 2 seasons with more than 6.6 WAR and averaged 4.6 WAR over his first full 7 seasons. I think you'll get as much WAR out of Chapman's age 26-30 seasons than you will out of Vlady from age 20-26. With the contact improvements he's made, he may approach the 8 to 9 WAR per year value (recognizing he was 7 WAR over a 155 game season last year). I'm probably underselling the age thing and whatever the likelihood of us signing and retaining Vlady for his age 27-33 years - I just think his lack of defense is caps his value, while Chapman looks like he's already better than Machado and Arenado. Plus he's not fat as f***.
  3. nobody bit on this? Who says no?
  4. JD does seem like the type who makes a lot of gay jokes.
  5. yeah but it buys hookers and blow.
  6. We've been through this. Gift Ngoepe. 63 K% and a -60 wRC+
  7. f*** Scott Boras. Atkins will just point to Vladdy and say "how's that working out for us?"
  8. He's pretty s***** at guessing...
  9. Christ - he doesn't pass the eye test for me.
  10. Grichuk missed that strike 3 curveball by 4 feet. I know hitting is hard, but all 73 people at the dome knew a breaking ball as coming....why doesn't Grichuk?
  11. Vladdy for Chapman - done.
  12. why do you suggest Shatkin's ignores defense? Maile is great defensively, so is Galvis. Drury's very good defensively and so is Grichuk, Smoak's good at 1st too.
  13. Wait until Sogard's wRC+ is back down in the 80's. It's painful boys. Painful year.
  14. Chris Paddack porn - NSFW https://blogs.fangraphs.com/chris-paddacks-relentless-attack/
  15. The improvement of Matt Chapman K% is pretty remarkable. AA/AAA - 30% 2017 - 28.2% 2018 - 23.7% 2019 - 14.8% Reminds me of Kris Bryant 2015 - 2017 Chapman's a beast. One of the very best in the game who's probably going to go unnoticed for awhile in Oakland.
  16. https://www.mlb.com/news/pitchers-with-multiple-no-hitters There's the list of guys who've thrown 2
  17. It's his 2nd no-hitter too.
  18. Kevin Smith's entire season has been a derp.
  19. today I learned that Zeke still plays baseball. Yesterday I learned Shoemaker is already 33! you guys make me smrt.
  20. Sorry - you said that Tampa takes 'flyers' on prospects like Glasnow and Meadows. Typically trading your ace who's under team control and on a very team friendly contract for a couple of flyers isn't great idea. Obviously this is working out exceptionally well for Tampa. It was a calculated risk, but there is still a lot of luck in it.
  21. da fuk? Tampa had to give up an #1/#2 type starter on a VERY team friendly deal to acquire those 'reclamation' projects.
  22. Galvis = Iglesias man. Iglesias isn't coming to TO after we sign Galvis. He went somewhere that he could start. I like Dietrich, but with Drury, Gurriel, Travis, Galvis, etc. we already have lots of guys under 30 who we're hoping take the job and run with it. The issue is we haven't hit, where as the Reds may have with Dietrich. Almost every team takes flyers on those fail prospect types. It's really hard to hit on them. I bet you could analyse 10 teams and find out they missed on all their flyers just like we did. How much of it is just pure luck? A lot of it IMO.
  23. That's utter nonsense. He was worth 1.7 WAR last year in less than 100 innings. He was worth 3.4 WAR in 2015. He was worth nothing in 2016 and 2017. He comes with an extremely volatile array of outcomes - but if you 'hit', you hit really well and may have a valuable asset. We probably 'missed' on him - but that doesn't mean that risk wasn't worth it.
  24. Dude - we signed Shoemaker for this very reason. We did sign the 28-30 year old who still has team control. I guess we could have piled them on (if they wanted to play here)...but you can't exactly s*** on the FO when they picked up someone from that group already. Matt Moore and Martin Perez were f***ing awful last year.
