    How would you like to be that guy? He produces in every single level he plays at (lowest wRC+ was 124 in 2014 in A ball) and the Rockies give you all of 19 PA's. f*** THEM. It's too bad he's been s*** for the Jays.

    Man - I still remember when Bubba Starling was drafted 5th overall. It was probably the wicked name, but the draft show made it sound like he was going to be awesome. I followed him for a couple of years before it was apparent he sucked at baseball.

    That's a fair take. Galvis seems like the type of guy who wants and expects to start....he always has and frankly he's good enough to start at the ML level. That's unfortunate for the Jays, as apparently he's a great leader and he would be an amazing utility infielder to help mentor Biggio, Bo & Vlad.

    Percentage wise.....what are the chances that Bo finishes his career with more WAR than Vlady? I'll go with 35%. Premium defensive position and good base running certainly give him a good shot IMO.

    Agreed...it's a pretty awesome trade environment for a young team built around positional prospects, who, in a couple of years (when we optimize our win curve), may need to acquire a couple of starting pitchers to compete. I'm a bit confused on why people are so surprised. I think in general - teams value prospects higher than they ever have before. Contending teams seem to be able to acquire proven ML talent cheaper than ever before....whether thru trade or through free agency. I know it's super frustrating to be a couple of years away from contending, but when the new 'core' is ready, it's easier than ever to go out and fill holes with quality players. In the meantime, we build up the farm system so we have the currency to take advantage of the weak market (let's just hope the weak market continues!)

    There's a possibility the Jays don't want Giles pitching much before the deadline and Montoyo is just telling the media he's "not 100%" to as the smoke and mirror excuse on why he isn't using him. In highsight - not the best use of words....although I highly doubt that effects his value. There's a simple discussion with the other GM to day "oh f***, Giles is fine, we just didn't want to risk injury before the trade deadline. Charlie's a nice guy, but he's not too smart. He just made that up to justify why he didn't bring him into a game because some dumb ass casual fans are still all over him every time we lose - when it's obviously we're tanking."

    Well Hurl said he would have been a top 10 pick in the draft this year. Most of us are really used to trading vets for draft picks during a rebuild. Stroman for Kay and a top 10 draft pick doesn't sound so bad Honestly though - most of us are upset because we didn't get someone ranked in the top 50 of some website's top 100 list. Those lists and the valuation of prospects can change rapidly (see Pearson, Nate).

    Sorry - no I wouldn't be. I understand that teams value players differently and that teams are on different win curves, which effects their valuations.

    Dude - there are all kinds of assumptions there. Now to be fair, I probably should have said "you know who else may not have been in our 2021 rotation? Marcus Stroman" You don't know if the FO offered Stroman an extension, if they did, you don't know the years or value. You don't know if Stroman's camp approached our FO with an offer or the years or value of it. We don't even know if Stroman's 'talk' that he loves the Blue Jays is true (I mean it's never wise for a player to suggest he hates the city/team he's playing for). For all we know, he 'talks up' Toronto as leverage for getting more money or term. I mean you can make all the ignorant assumptions you want - but it's a bit irresponsible. The reality is - we now have a ton of quality arms in our system. I mean again, you make some ignorant assumptions about how good they will be in 2021-2022 - but why do that? why be that guy?
