  1. Didn't Atkins take a lot of s*** from fans for not holding out for more in a trade? It sounds like they held out for more on Galvis and in return, got nothing. If you want your GM to be an Alpha GM who's going to squeeze every ounce of value out of trades - then this type of thing is going to happen from time to time. You need to show other GM's that you're not a push over who will just take anything that's offered simply to get the deal done.
  2. Fransmil Reyes has been worth -0.7 WAR for the Indians since the trade (11 games). Sucking doesn't get much more spectacular than that. 2.6 BB% 35.9 K% wRC+ down to 104 on the season.
  3. It makes me happy that he's f***ing awful bat baseball. 21 HRs, 77 wRC+
  4. I wonder if there's consideration to extending or re-signing Smoak. Unlike Galvis, we still need a 1st baseman next year unless we are prepared to move Vlad there or are confident Tellez doesn't suck.
  5. Holy f*** - I'm not sure I realized Bonds was intentionally walked 120 times in 2004. That season was insane. Last year's leaders were: BB% - 20.1 (Trout) K% - 7.3 (Simmons) IBB - 25 (Trout) BB - 130 (Harper) 2004 Bonds BB% - 37.6 K% - 6.6 IBB - 120 BB - 232
  6. My boys sit through games no problem now, but that car ride might be another story!
  7. Pittsburgh is a wonderful road trip. Might be time to think about taking my 2 older boys (10 + 8 next year) to some of these other stadiums. Pittsburgh would be a nice start.
  8. Dude - your sarcasm meter is broken...
  9. Good call. Reyes was such an exciting player in his prime.
  10. {insert old man yells at clouds GIF.}
  11. You can't even make a credible argument that a front office makes poor decisions without an understanding of the information they had at the time of the decision. Poor results and poor decisions are 2 different things. Ever decision has a probability of poor results, no matter how good the decision is. s***ing on someone who made a good decision, but got unlucky with a poor result is incredibly shortsighted. If Galvis told the FO he wasn't going to accept a backup role and wasn't going to work with the young infielders....would you still want to keep someone like that around just so they could give you 1.5 WAR over 650 PA's? We don't and probably will never know all the circumstances behind this, so just accept it for what it is.
  12. You also have about 1/100th of the information the Jays do. Just relax and assume the professionals are making good decisions.
  13. We have Drury, McGwire/Maile and Fisher/Alford/McKinney already. We will need someone who can play SS. Could be Urena, could be a cheap FA. Our bench isn't that bad though.
  14. To be fair - Maile was coming off a 2.2 WAR season. He was a top 10 or 12 catcher in all of baseball in 2018.
  15. I hate assuming, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some discontent on Galvis' behalf. He's always been an starter who plays everyday. The Jays could have picked up his $5M option in the offseason and tried to deal him - but in reality, he isn't worth anything anymore because his defense is just good now (instead of great, which it was in 2016 and 2017). Iglesias is superior to Galvis and he was DFA'd this past offseason and had to accept a minor league invite IIRC. Will be curious to see if more comes out on this story. Maybe some stuff happening behind closed doors - maybe just the Jays doing him a solid so he can catch on and play more on another team. He's only a great guy to have on your bench if he accepts and embraces that role. If he's pissed off, wanting to start than he can become a distraction.
  16. I'm going to need some help to figure this out. Revocable waivers were eliminated right? Did we place him on irrevocable waivers, knowing he'd be claimed with the intent of trading him (even though we have no leverage because we can't pull him back if we don't like the deal?)
  17. wRC+ since returning is now 128 and he has 15 HRs, a .558 Slug%, .308 ISO and 9.4 BB% So he's shown excellent power and above average walks since returning. That said - it doesn't appear the K's are going away. Teo probably is what he is at this point. A streaky hitter with good power and speed. Hopefully he's a league average hitter who can now provide solid OF defense at all 3 positions. If he proves he can give us a 105-110 wRC+ in CF, we probably found our upgrade to Pillar as he should give us 2.5 WAR a season during his prime years (ie, the next 2-3 years).
  18. Just noticed what a massive season Jorge Solar is having. A beast.
  19. Can we turn Fisher into this? https://blogs.fangraphs.com/j-d-davis-is-leading-the-mets-charge/
  20. I haven't written off Alford. As a minimum, he should be a quality 4th outfielder. Anyone know if he has big splits? If he could be a lefty masher who can play LF, CF & RF - that could add a lot of value. He does need to stay healthy though.
  21. home runs are worse than walks.
  22. Or just STFU because you have no idea what the best course of action for a 20 year old is (physically or mentally). Leave it to the experts and stop blaming people with 1000 times more information than you. Again - this is the type of s*** that's wrong with the world.
  23. Not sure how you get more clueless than this.
  24. That was an incredible inning to watch. Love these Jays.
  25. I just found out that Reese McGuire was always known as an offensive catcher, but it's his defense that's really come along. Thanks for that Buck.
