  1. FFS - he better not be!
  2. Is anything NOT going the Twins way? I mean outside of Marwin Gonzalez - everything is coming up Twins. Polanco's a star Buxton's hitting Mitch Garver and Jason Castro are is suddenly Joe Mauer with power Schoop can hit again Cron's improved Sano is back from the dead and hitting Kepler's improved Cruz is Cruz Rosario is Rosario The complete opposite of the Jays? That must be fun to watch players exceed expectations.
  3. Similar profile to Mike Zunino (albeit with more speed). That made me look up Zunino and find out that in 2014 he posted a 4.2 WAR season while hitting .199 with an 87 wRC+. That's great defense!
  4. Garrett Cooper now sporting a 130 wRC+
  5. I've been tracking this all year too. It's incredible given his awful K/BB ratio. He continue to hit better than Realmuto this year.
  6. Astros just took him. They love their bat first players.
  7. and Will Holland is gone.
  8. I based this solely on size and this from the MLB.com write up on Manoah 'He's physically imposing on the mound and works in the mid-90s with heavy sink and tough plane on his fastball.' I'm happy to hear his fastball and slider are expected to be a lot better than Zeuch's. Why'd we draft Zeuch again?
  9. That's who I thought of when I read the scouting report. Big, heavy sinking fastball, good control. Zeuch's a little slimmer, listed at 6'7 225 lbs.
  10. You guys have ruined my joke of suggesting our new draft pick should be a dietitian. Jerks.
  11. If it helps. Brandon Woodruff has 0.5 WAR as a positional player over 30 PA's. He's 7th on the Brewers ahead of Braun, Arcia, Perez, Hiura, Aguilar and Shaw. Edit: I'm not sure how that 'helps' anything. Perhaps it distracts you for a few moments?
  12. Nope - never heard of the National League. Just googled it. Pretty mind blowing there Bob. I meant the term 'joint' 6th in NL. I assume joint is some sort of British term for tied?
  13. I think it's pretty clear that something in their advance analytic research suggests a market inefficiency in barrels and exit velocity stuff over contact. It might just be that if you're going to take a flyer on a marginal prospect - you're more likely to 'hit' on someone with those characteristics over someone who makes good contact (without the power profile). ie, it's easy to take someone who hits the ball hard and improve their contact, than take a contact hitter and teach them to hit with more power. I think with guys like Grichuk, Teoscar, etc. they thought if they could improve their eye/patience, they could get them swinging at more balls they can hit....and when those guys hit the ball, they hit it hard.
  14. I use the Fangraph WAR system. Solely because the BP webpage is utter dogshit. Freeland was only 4.2 WAR in that system (tied for 6th as you said - or as I think you said...wtf is 'joint 6th in NL'). I didn't think 4.2 WAR would place him 6th. I should have looked first. I'm lazy at times too. Don't judge me.
  15. under which alias Todd?
  16. But Shatkin's can't evaluate talent and got nothing for Oh.
  17. I'm not going back threw what I expect is a s*** show (ie, pages 1 through 6), so I'll just ask - is Term at the game tonight and/or going to other games this weekend?
  18. Why in the f*** was he 4th in the Cy Young vote last year? Where Goose and Joe Morgan the only ones voting?
  19. Dude - you say stupid things on a consistent basis. Do more listening here. In the meantime - get back to me with a list of the big FA's the Dodgers have built their current team with. CD - this has nothing to do with an old boys club or opposing views at all. People who making false statements are asking to be called out.
  20. Because Wasaga Beach is known for its trailer parks?
  21. 5. George Kirby, RHP, Elon University Age: 21 Height: 6-4 Weight: 200 Bats: R Throws: R FB: 60 CB: 55 SLI: 55 CH: 55 CTL: 55 CMND: 60 Kirby is a strike-throwing machine, with a clean delivery that results in plus control and plus-plus command in the zone. He had the best strikeout-to-walk ratio in the country, one that has analytics departments screaming at their scouting directors to move him up their draft boards. His fastball is in the mid-90s, and he flashes an above-average curveball and slider, but he hasn’t been able to find consistency yet with either pitch. His best secondary pitch, however, might be his changeup, which has fade and deception. Kirby doesn’t have the best stuff in this draft, but his special command will get him drafted well ahead of many other top pitchers with bigger arms. Who's giving these rankings? Kirby has an equal or higher ranking than Lodolo in every category - yet ranks 5th, while Lodolo ranks 1st. I also love how they rank both control and command. That's got to trigger some people in here. Finally - I didn't know what Elon University was....a private liberal arts university. Didn't know s*** like that existed.
