  1. Yeah it's hard to know if they're talking about the current, post trade value....or what they were at the time, which was a pair of once very highly regarded prospects who seemed to fizzle out in AAA and/or their first few shots at the ML level. Obviously both are very talented, but they were both viewed somewhat as reclamation projects (guys who needed a fresh start) at the time of the trade.
  2. Is there really a huge difference between AA and AAA? I guess there are more old journeyman pitchers in AAA that spin the ball better and what not. It doesn't seem like a big concern to me. Brito and Pompey are in AAA as insurance policies for injuries so we don't have to prematurely add Wall to the 40 man roster and/or start burning options.
  3. https://thegamehaus.com/nolan-ryans-record-108-mph-fastball/2018/08/20/ You guys ever see this article? any truth to it?
  4. Anyone else notice how s***** the Cardinals season has been? DeJong's wRC+ had dipped down to 103 Goldy's wRC+ 105 Wong's back down in the mid 80's Harrison Bader has the sophomore slump at 76 Carpenter's at 86 Jose Martinez is at 101 Mikolas and Flaherty turned back into pumpkins Carlos Martinez and Reyes can't stay healthy - both might be pen pieces now Andrew Miller looks done....are they using him as a LOOGY? 41 games, 28 1/3 innings pitched this year Wacha looks done Hicks is hurt Dakota Hudson BB/9 is over 4 I mean f*** me - that's basically the opposite of the Twins season. I don't like the Cards, but man, what a s*** show that must be for fans.
  5. Fairbanks is the RP version of Glasnow. Huge extension and arm angle will make his 96-98 MPH fastball look like 100+
  6. Why is that? Just because Cole is a FA next year? I'd assume they'd protect Tucker more.
  7. MLB Network - JP Morosi hypothetical trade: To Houston Robbie Ray To Arizona Forrest Whitley Derek Fisher J.B Bukauskas
  8. Nice. What do you mean when you say "and considering the fact that he's a March birthday it basically means he's a full year younger than anyone else achieving that". Do you mean Carter Kieboom's birthday is in September, therefore he's 21 throughout this baseball season and you consider that his age 21 season? I never look at it that way. Kieboom turns 22 this year...this is his age 22 season IMO. Perhaps there's some unwritten rule about that sort of thing. I guess what I'm getting at is wRC+'s of 120 and 113 in AA and AAA isn't 'amazing' in a bubble. Curious how much age impacts those results and looking for some comparable players to gauge accordingly.
  9. I don't want to give tercet any fuel, but can someone rhyme off some 'stars' that posted a wRC+ of 120 in AA (age 20) and a wRC+ of 113 in AAA (age 21)? Just looking for some comparable bat/age/position combinations to put things in perspective for me. Thanks. Lindor? Amed Rosario? Willy Adames?
  10. After the awful start he had, it's pretty incredible he's back up to these numbers.
  11. You take constructive criticism so well. You must be a joy to work with.
  12. Griffen Conine The Good - 183 wRC+, .310 ISO in 164 PA's in A ball The Bad - 36.6 K%
  13. Geeeeez - I've never seen that pattern from Glory before.
  14. But Kim K isn't fat...she's THICC
  15. Even though you didn't mean to do something doesn't mean that what you did was wrong.
  16. so he has his dad's body type, only fatter. Got it.
  17. + Groshans in 2021? C - Jansen 1st - Vlad 2nd - Biggio SS - Bichette 3rd - Groshans OF - Tucker, LGJ, Grichuk FAP, FAP, FAPPPPPP...
  18. That was brutal. Direct hit.
  19. Babe's 56 oz bat may have played a role in that mammoth shot. I love the picture of the stadium in that article also.
  20. Maybe just remove the kids from the OF? While I'm sure it's really fun and awesome for them - they don't add anything to the event and create a safety hazard. Waiting until the ball drops is dumb. Let them throw as quickly as they can. The fans want HR's and the ability for someone to claw back, come from behind and win.
  21. Thanks - that's a lot easier than searching their name in the search bar.
  22. You guys remember how excited we were for Kevin Smith going into this year? f*** me. I know prospects fail all the time, but lord the wind came out of his sail quick.
  23. Why don't Orelvis Martinez and Philip Clarke show up on Fangraphs yet?
  24. It would be hard for fans to follow as they hit HR's at such a fast pace. Guys - there's nothing wrong with the current format. It's exciting, must see TV. The HR derby is the best skills competition there is from the 4 major sports. The MLB all-star game is also the best of the 4.
  25. yeah - that H2H format in the 2nd round was super boring and hard to watch. No excitement at all. I mean who the f*** wanted to watch them each get an extra minute and then 3 more swings (twice!) to break the tie? That was s*** TV right there. H2H competition creates drama and excitement. The time basis | H2H format essentially saved the home run derby. Sometimes that means the wrong guys wins - but that's life.
