  1. 163 wRC+ with a BB% of 3 and a K% of 49 in 166 PA's is pretty impressive actually.
  2. Easy with the logic and common sense man. Minds are made up!
  3. I fully expect him to step up and dominant down the stretch for any team he goes to. He is a big game player and it's pretty common to see players step up when going from a bottom feeder to a contender.
  4. That game is being played under protest because of this. Apparently Cash didn't specify where Kolarek and Roe would hit in the lineup (one went in for the 1st baseman and the other goes in for the DH).
  5. Sure - but the sooner they trade for him, the sooner he helps their team.
  6. I'd like to think front offices aren't this short sighted. But who knows.
  7. I had the Yanks/Twins game on TV with the Jays/Indians on my laptop. Best of both worlds.
  8. I mean - you're probably right. I actually like the idea of Shaw. Play him at 3rd, move Vlad to 1st and hope he can return to a 2.5+ WAR player. Stat scouting - I like Trent Grisham too. Former 15th overall pick. Looks like he made adjustments or something clicked this year as he's been a beast in AA/AAA. High BB%, low K%. 22 years old. Great secondary piece IMO. Just lacking that Top 100 prospect you expect if you're moving Stro. Maybe need a 3rd team to make it work. Top 75 prospect + Grisham + Shaw for Stro would be pretty nice.
  9. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-make-some-trades-the-2019-edition/ some dooozies from Fangraphs. Most notably, "the Milwaukee Brewers acquire P Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays for SS Mauricio Dubon, OF Trent Grisham, P Aaron Ashby, and 2B Travis Shaw". I mean f***ing barf.
  10. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2019-replacement-level-killers-second-base/ This can't hurt the value of Sogard + Galvis...
  11. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1801403/atlantic-league-will-keep-using-robot-umps-for-rest-of-season
  12. What's with your new attempt to be the board comedian? It's not good man.
  13. Danner's stats are bizarre. 2017 - .160 avg, .202 BABIP, 32 wRC+ 2018 - .279 avg, .387 BABIP, 128 wRC+ 2019 - .179 avg, .208 BABIP, 90 wRC+
  14. I graduated from the Western engineering program also. Can confirm. Most professors were foreign and f***ing god awful at teaching. I rarely understood what they were talking about. I was good at memorizing things and copying my peers so I survived.
  15. What would we have to give up to get Spencer Howard, Haseley + Moniak?
  16. Why would Evan White be added to the Top 100? 23 year old 1st baseman in AA with a 123 wRC+ ? Doesn't walk, ISO <.200 What am I missing?
  17. Dude - that's awful. Rule #1 - never stick your dick in crazy.
  18. I mean maybe....but hear me out. We keep Pillar and he plays everyday in CF. Grichuk is playing everyday in RF after being extended.....what if Teo actually hit at the start of the year and took some sort of grasp of the LF spot and say Davis (or McKinney, or Alford...someone) stepped up and was playing really well as our 4th OF. Gurriel gets sent down because he can't throw to 1st. He posts a 95 wRC+ in AAA......would he have gotten a shot to play LF in the majors? How awful would that have been? All so Pillar can give us 0.5 to 1 WAR? I mean even right now...we've discovered the Gurriel is probably a player...maybe even a really good player. He's locked into LF and Grichuk's our RFer. If Pillar's here, we wouldn't be getting an extended look at Teo. Now Teo's probably nothing...but he's looked much more comfortable since returning and showing he can play a little CF. Now he's starting to hit a to. I'd rather see what Teo has over the next 50 to 60 games than watch Pillar in CF.
  19. I mean - so what? If our OF had combined for 3 WAR this season...would it matter? The reality is - there's a decent change that Alford, McKinney, Teo, Davis and even Gurriel all useless players. The playing time that's opened up in the OF actually let us find out that Gurriel might be a player.....maybe a really good player. We extended Grichuk, so we knew he was playing everyday. If Pillar was still in CF everyday...would there be enough time to get an extended look at McKinney, Teo and Gurriel in LF? Save $5M and get an extended look at all those guys this year v. paying Pillar $5M to put up 0.5 to 1 WAR in the OF....I'm all for the former.
  20. like from the 's***' to 'shittiest' cliff?
  21. I don't really care to go back and verify this, but what Jim might be trying to say is that we know what Pillar is. He's decent and into the stage of his career where players like him typically decline - sometimes rapidly (as they rely on speed). There's a great chance that Alford, McKinney and Teo suck - but all 3 are still young players who are just entering their prime. There's a chance that one of them becomes a solid major league starting OFer that can help this team from 2020 to 2025 (which appears to be our window). It seems to me (this might just be a skewed perspective) that with all the technology we have these days - the chances of correcting some issues and turning talent a below average player (with talent) into an average or even above average player is much higher than it was 10-15 years ago. So - I have no problem with the Jays moving Pillar and giving those guys a chance to play. Teo seems like the best bet right now to be that guy. He has the tools and seems to have worked a s*** ton to tighten up his defense.
  22. Yeah I don't know about that. For a long time there he was posting negative WAR in SF too. He got hot in June, which has put him above replacement value and has been his 'norm' in July. He's streaky as f***. There's a chance he reaches 1 WAR and a change he finishes the season with 0 WAR.
