  1. I'm not sure it's possible to reduce off-days...
  2. Everybody hit Bolsinger hard. They must all be stealing signs.
  3. The issue is in a 3 games series - anything can happen. The 2nd base team in the league will have to play very short, 3 game series against some team that just snuck into the playoffs. Personally - I'm OK with this when it's the wild card teams. If you don't want to play in a coin flip, winner take all game - then win the division; however, I feel like teams that actually win the division should get the opportunity to play in a 5 or 7 game series.
  4. I'm not a huge fan of the division winners (who don't finish with the best records) only getting a 3 game series. I hate the idea of more teams making the playoffs. I understand they think it will keep teams from tanking and keep fans in the seats. If that were true, I could probably live with it; however - if the playoffs started today, the Raps play the Nets, who are well under .500. In both the NBA and NHL, far too many s***** teams make the playoffs and it makes the regular season somewhat pointless. I want the regular season to matter. I'm indifferent on the 'pick your opponent' option.
  5. I love the WC game. I understand that after 162 games, it becomes a bit of a coin flip, but if you don't like it - win the division. Winner take all games are the f***ing tits.
  6. What is your position on using 'code breaker' to teach players to steal signs (and relay them to the batter) while on 2nd base? I believe people generally believe stealing signs while on 2nd base is fair game - but what if they get better at it by studying film and using an algorithm program (much like they do to learn pitchers tendencies for pitch types used in certain situations). As long as you're not using the program in-game...is it OK?
  7. Good catch. Still, between Price, May, Urias, Wood, Nelson, Gonsolin there are lots of question marks over who's going to provide innings. They just lost 335 innings from Ryu and Maeda, while only adding 100 from Price. Seems like Stripling would be a good guy to keep for a contending team like the Dodgers.
  8. Sign me up for Ross Stripling. Can I ask - why are the Dodgers moving him? Isn't their starting pitching depth getting a little thin?
  9. Meh - I'm not whining - just curious. I often think God gets more credit than the doctors and nurses.
  10. Do people really believe that God is answering their prayers when their loved one gets better under the direct supervision of a Doctor?
  11. King - you bastard. Don't post that s***.
  12. The complication is a slightly damaged Graterol is probably still worth Maeda. It will be the Red Sox saying wait a minute, we gave up Betts, Price and $$$ and we didn't realize Graterol was this damaged. We need to get more from somebody in this deal. I agree - I suspect the Dodgers are the ones who get squeezed for more.
  13. Isn't this as simple as the Red Sox evaluating the likelihood that they could sign Betts long term (or after he became a FA) and concluded it wasn't going to happen? Big market or not - it would be incredibly stupid to complete that evaluation, decide the odds of them retaining Betts were slim, and then keep him anyway.
  14. Verdugo and Benintendi are similar players eh?
  15. I had some Beau's Lugtread this weekend for the first time. I really enjoyed it....although I was ice fishing and thus was already pretty drunk and high as f***. We got the update on Tony while we were in the hut. Jesse Barfield reporting that he spoke with Juan Guzman, who said that Tony Fernandez is in critical condition was hilarious to us (the line of reporting, not the news).
  16. This is what happens when you put Dave Dombrowski in charge. At least for the Sox, they actually won a championship.
  17. Sounds like the Angels are giving up a pretty decent prospect if this is all true.
  18. They could also move Maeda to the pen in the playoffs...he's proven he's a stud there.
  19. I'm with Jim and BTS on this. I see why the Twins did it. Will it bite them long term? probably, but they are looking to win in 2020, 2021.
  20. Yep - trading Betts right before he enters his prime years and moving on from Price at age 34 coming off an injury plagued year. Incredible job by the Red Sox.
  21. holy f*** - bring on spring training.
  22. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1937473/astros-baker-illegal-sign-stealing-wont-happen-on-my-watch "It's certainly not going to happen on my watch and I don't see it happening ever again because this has been embarrassing for a lot of people," Baker said I wonder if he'll be as effective at preventing cheating in his clubhouse as he was back when he managed Bonds and Sosa...
