    Vladdy certainly doesn't seem to be self isolating. What is happening in countries that are less developed? Are they shutting down? I can't imagine they are testing much. They don't seem to be getting a lot of coverage.

    Man - I saw a highlight of Vlady hitting the game winning HR in the bottom of the 9th in Montreal (was that last spring or 2 springs ago?). He looked significantly smaller then.

    Yeah I wasn't as surprised at the low K/9 values, but more that he also walked so many. If you can't strike people out and give up over a hit per inning - you simply can't walk over 4 per 9 innings.

    haha - that's hilarious. I never put that together. I know Stieb didn't strikeout a lot (I was going to poise the question as to why, but I self concluded it's a combination of the hitters approach, the 'pitch to contact' approach and reduced velocity), but Stieb was VERY hard to hit and his WHIP was consistently in the 1.10 to 1.20 range. That range for good to great hitter hasn't changed much in the past 40 years (perhaps longer, I couldn't be bothered to look back).

    I'm sure he 'played the game the right way' and had all kinds of other attributes that voters thought actually mattered back in the day. It's just difficult to fathom a time when a WHIP of 1.5 and a BB/K ratio of 1:1 kept you in the rotation....or even in the major leagues - let alone won you the Cy Young award. Yesterday I was watching the 1981 Edmonton Oilers game where Wayne scores 5 goals to get 50 goals in 39 games. After watching about 10 minutes of it, I couldn't help but come away thinking that hockey in 1981 was f***ING AWFUL and that I no longer consider Wayne Gretzky to be the best player ever to play the game. I fully imagine I'd come away with the same opinion if I watched Pete Vuckovich pitch in 1981.

    MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told ESPN's Scott Van Pelt that the investigation involving the Red Sox is complete. In a televised interview with Van Pelt, Manfred went over a plethora of issues, and the conversation finished with the allegations of sign-stealing by the Red Sox. Manfred told the ESPN anchor that the investigation is finished, and that there just hasn't been time for the commissioner to file a written report. He did, however, say that there will be something from the MLB office before the start of the regular season. As to when he expects the 2020 season to begin, Manfred mentioned that he was "optimistic" that things could get ramped up again by the middle of May but was non-committal on any firm date. He also said that they will "probably not" be able to play a full 162-game campaign and noted that they will need to be "creative" with the scheduling in both the regular season and postseason while not dismissing the possibility of playing seven-inning doubleheaders.

    According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Major League Baseball has agreed with the MLBPA to grant a full year of service time to players in 2020 regardless of how many games the schedule includes. Rosenthal adds, however, that the two sides "have agreed to table discussions on how much service time the players would receive" if the worst-case scenario plays out and the 2020 season has to be canceled entirely.

    Simulate a video baseball game to replicate the numbers. I saw people were doing this for March Madness.

    Sorry - I'm that guy. Did you see the trade? Hopkins and a 4th for David Johnson and a 2nd Bills land Diggs and have to give up significantly more. Terrific Tom isn't returning to the Pats.
