  1. Part of me would have preferred Tony Kemp...he's been worth 1.4 WAR over the past 480ish PA's.
  2. Wouldn't it be awesome if we were the type of organization that could take an arm like Sanchez and make him a monster? Maybe we should focus on that a bit more.
  3. The issue with Joe is that he isn't very good at pitching.
  4. Why would you draw that conclusion? The Dodgers aren't giving up Lux + Ruiz for Vazquez FFS. The Pirates ludicrous ask doesn't imply anything.
  5. Matt Garza sounds like a real winner.
  6. that concept is far too complicated for Barker to understand.
  7. that's some incredible detective work sir.
  8. Fangraph's puts Allard in as Texas's #23 overall prospect.
  9. That's certainly encouraging. He just needs to cut that K% down to the mid to low 20's.
  10. No offense, but Urena's posted a wRC+ in the high 60's over his last 1,282 PA's in AA and AAA. He's solid defensively, but utterly useless at the plate. It seems really unlikely he'll ever deserve a spot on the 25 man roster, let alone replicate Galvis' production at the ML level.
  11. Apparently he's a left handed AAA reliever from the Jays. Appears we plucked him away from the Mexican AAA league this year. Sounds like a keeper.
  12. Can we please trade for Trent Grisham? Thanks.
  13. So SD gave up Reyes (good hitter, future DH - Mark Trumbo? N.Cruz?) and a back end Top 100 prospect for Trammell (Top 30 prospect) and we think SD got hosed? Would we have been happy getting Reyes and Allen for Stro? For me, Allen = Kay. SWR just seems like a significant risk/reward type, whereas Reyes has a low ceiling, high floor.
  14. So Taylor Trammell (despite having a brutal season) is still ranked as the 30th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com My question is....if we traded Stro for Trammell and Scott Moss.....what would the board be excited? happy? pissed? indifferent? Is that a better package than SWR + Kay?

  16. To be fair, the scouting report says he has better 'stuff' than most of the Cubs starting pitching prospects. If we can 'fix' the control issues (ones which he didn't have in College), then there might be something there. If not, he's got a shot in the pen to fall back onto.
  17. Sorry to hear that man. Cheers to a speed recovery.
  18. Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 40 Hatch missed 2015 with a sprained elbow ligament that didn't require surgery, then returned to lead Oklahoma State to the 2016 College World Series by working 23 straight shutout innings during the NCAA tournament. Chicago's top pick (third round) that June, he made his pro debut in high Class A the next year. He has been durable in two pro seasons but has had some unexpected issues with his control and pitch sequencing. In college, Hatch's two main pitches were a low-90s two-seam fastball and a low-80s slider. The Cubs wanted him to focus on using a four-seamer and changeup to combat left-handers, but he took that too far in 2018 and got hit when he relied too much on the straighter of his two fastballs. On the positive side, his changeup was his best offering at times last year, and he showed the ability to sit at 93-94 mph and touch 96 with his four-seamer. Hatch also has had difficulty avoiding barrels because his control has been spotty. He pounded the strike zone when he was the Big 12 Conference pitcher of the year in 2016 but finished second in the Double-A Southern League with 61 walks a year ago. He has better stuff than most of the system's starting pitcher prospects, but he could wind up as a middle reliever if he can't improve at locating and mixing his offerings. That's from MLB.com
  19. Lord help us. What a ****.
  20. sorry man - your post was balanced - I was referring to the reaction of the masses. I should have clarified. My bad.
  21. In the meantime, we should all speculate and form strong opinions about the whole situation and those involved based on little to no information. Same fault in our voting system. It's easy to say - "I watched Moneyball - I know how GM negotiations work and Atkins should have played hardball more!" Here's a question...if Atkin's played hardball and waited teams out....and nobody fell for it - and he either kept Stroman or dealt him for less....would you applaud him? or s*** all over him for not reading the market and taking the best deal? (that's under the assumption an extension wasn't going to happen). I suspect the vast majority would s***.
  22. That random tweet proves nothing putz.
  23. I still love the stories about the bleacher bums racing along the top of the Wrigley Field fence - all for a free beer.......regularly falling onto the field in injuring themselves (sometimes requiring an ambulance to drive onto the field to clean them up). The solution? Add f***ing baskets on the field side of the fence to catch the bums and install a peak on top of the fence. At one point in our history - things were easier than they are today.
  24. Haven't you read? Atkins ruined baseball and the trade deadline by giving Stro to the Mets. Teams now need to reference Todd's Top 150 prospect list to find trade candidates in the mid 50's. Oh and teams heard you have to wait until the last second to truly get the best value in trades, so just sit tight.
