  1. That's a hard no.
  2. This is one of the best posts I've ever seen from you man. Can't say I disagree. Ryu scares the crap out of me, but I think the point is made.
  3. So we can sign Lindblom after we sign Wheeler, but we can't sign him before we sign Wheeler. Makes sense.
  4. I was at Opening Day that season. Everyone screaming "we want BJ's" with the Jays leading into the 9th inning.
  5. Santana bat doesn't offset his awful defense enough. He's a (s*****) idea to fill our DH spot though. Franco's posted a wRC+ of 92 or less in 3 of the past 4 seasons. Edwin was consistently an above average hitter when we found lightning in a bottle. The 2 aren't comparable (outside of their facial similarities). Souza Jr. was good in 2017...minor league spring training invite? Agree on Cesar.
  6. Unlike most of the FA starters, Wheeler has the upside to transform into a top 10 pitcher (ala G.Cole). Chances of that happening are (always) relatively low, but they aren't anywhere near zero. Guys like Keuchel, Porcello, Hamels, Bailey, Roark, etc. don't have that upside. On a team that needs top of the rotation arms (v. depth) that has to interest us (especially given his age). Regarding the durability - he's been healthy the past 2 years. Every pitcher is a ticking time bomb. Guys like Ryu and Strasburg must have as much, if not more risk that Wheeler. With the depth we have, I'm all for getting Wheeler and taking a risk on Jimmy Nelson, T.Walker and even Pineda (although he'll cost most). Guys who also have big upside (but also huge risk). We already have a lot of steady eddies who don't move the needle much.
  7. Pillar non-tendered after receiving that MVP vote.
  8. T.Walker, Gausman, Jimmy Nelson, Travis Shaw, Treinen - sign them all!
  9. It certainly looks like the last couple of years were a blip in the radar. Unfortunately for the Jays - they weren't quite ready to take advantage.
  10. wRC+ of 119 and more walks than strikeouts in the 2nd half last year.
  11. w...why? He can't hit.
  12. Did that 1 MVP vote drive up his arbitration price too much?
  13. Absolutely. He crushes RHP and is still only 29. He'd be a nice fit. There's probably a decent chance he's better than Mike Moustakas next year.
  14. Justin Bour is signing in Japan. Remember when he was in the home run derby a few years back in Miami and he got hot and was loving every minute of it? That was awesome. I loved it.
  15. That seems like a TON of cash for Drew Pomeranz. Then again, the Padres gave Hosmer a ton of cash, so I'm not surprised. Villar coming off a 4 WAR season being non-tendered is hilarious. Sign me up to add Profar, Treinen and Villar (somehow). Sign Bird to a minor league deal and then I'd even take a flyer on Aguilar - although I think there's a good chance he's done being an impact hitter.
  16. wRC+ of 119 in the 2nd half last year with more walks than strikeouts. I can't fathom why the A's would non-tender him. I'd certainly be sniffing around to see what he costs. He'd be a good super utility guy here (ax Drury)
  17. Grisham really broke out last year though, so I'm not sure we should just look at the prospect rankings to judge this. We really need someone like Grisham on this team!
  18. Same. I wonder if his age factored in to those initial reactions? He'll be 35 in the final year of that deal. I mean that's not ancient, but he should be declining by then.
  19. They may also non-tender or trade Blake Treinen
  20. I think that goes without saying Ray. He seemingly has the tools, but may need a new voice to help him pull it all together.
  21. I'd agree. I'd just like that trend to develop AFTER the Jays lock up the pieces they need to add to our core.
  22. you like it because you think it's good when FA's are getting paid?
  23. Is it almost time for the board awards? I've found some nominees.
  24. He was too high to think of that. Plus he had the arm bar mechanics...
  25. Do you even follow the Blue Jays sir? Our farm system remains very strong.
