  1. "Kirk is built like Chris Farley and, like Farley, has moments of surprising grace and athletic brilliance despite his size." Classic.
  2. Fangraphs list. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-38-prospects-toronto-blue-jays/
  3. The Blaze Jordan hype has really died down eh? He's now a 2nd or 3rd rounder?
  4. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/mike-trouts-inevitable-decline/
  5. perhaps already posted, but Collin McHugh signed with the Red Sox. I would have liked to see the Jays nab him.
  6. Maybe he should go try football again.
  7. I'm sure someone would say they'd rather the opposing pitchers have a good grip on the ball so they don't hit and hurt the Angel players... I wonder what he was giving them. I mean did they just asked for sunscreen and that's what he gave them? or was he bringing them pine tar to doctor up their gloves? Or some other concoction?
  8. man - you need to move on from this. If Alford is cut before the end of Spring Training, than who's the 26th man on this roster. Tellez? J.Davis? insert whoever you want. Than compare that player to Puig. Puig is better. He's probably better than Fisher and Teoscar too. He even projects to be better than Gurriel (if you even out the projected games played), who also seems to get hurt a lot. The reality is we are thin - and not very good in the outfield. Puig is probably what is he - a 1.5 to 2 WAR player. But he's an obvious upgrade over what we have.
  9. What does Tellez bring that Puig doesn't? Tellez can't run or play defense and projects (somehow) as a league average hitter. There's certainly a chance he blossoms and deserves the at bats, but there's a much strong possibility that Puig is far superior. Plus - it just lets us stash Tellez in AAA....he can force his way onto our roster in a number of ways if he breaks out (takes over at DH from Teo, Shaw doesn't rebound, injuries, etc.). And why are we better off bringing in another version of Goins exactly?
  10. This argument is moot because we can accommodate both Puig and Teo in the lineup. Puig in RF, Teo at DH (primarily). Signing Puig boots Alford and/or Tellez off the team.
  11. Lacy's follow through looks like D.Price.
  12. Good luck with that. Big sign Puig to a 1 year deal and stick him in RF.
  13. Eat a bag of dicks. You're a s*** stain on this board.
  14. We need some video of Bauer telling Beaty what's coming. You see it at the end of the Dietrich interview (which is equally as awesome)
  15. I saw that Rizzo at bat, but I can't figure out how to post tweets on here. Thanks LGBJ29. Pretty cool.
  16. I'd agree. He certainly doesn't look any smaller this year.
  17. I just looked it up and apparently Dwight Gooden baseball nickname was Dr. K (which isn't very memorable as I've never heard it before), which got shortened into 'Doc'. Roy's nickname of 'Doc' is a play on his name, coined by Tom Cheek as a reference to Wild West gunslinger Doc Holliday. I'd agree with you about The Big Unit and The Big Hurt (and The Crime Dog and The Iron Horse). Sometimes you 'hit' and the nickname really sticks. It just seems to me there are a lot more misses with those forced nicknames (The Process has to be the worst ever) like: Vlad the Impaler The Professor The Hebrew Hammer The Splendid Splinter The Yankee Clipper (prefer Joltin Joe) The Wizard of Oz I'd rather see the likes of: Big Mac Miggy Ryno Yaz IMO, nicknames are something people typically refer to you as. Nobody goes around and says "hey The Process do you want to grab a bite to eat tonight after the game?" Nobody would ever call Pearson "The Airport" in the dressing room - because that would be stupid.
  18. Meh - It's probably as clever as it gets if you want to assign that type of nickname to him. My issue is I generally hate all nicknames like that. The Answer, The Matrix, The Process. I much prefer nicknames associated with your actual name. Big Nate is just fine with me.
  19. Pretty sure he's been back on it for the past 2-3 seasons (legally).
  20. Nice little ball park they have in Bradenton eh? Love the updates. Thanks John.
  21. Perhaps already mentioned, but apparently we checked in on Collin McHugh. I think he's a great target.
  22. I guess I just assumed that NCAA schools that make a s*** ton of money off their athletes could afford to buy the kids bats. Would manufacturers give bats to the top teams for the marketing exposure? I wonder how many bats a college kid would go through in 1 seasons.
  23. Yeah I'm aware of BBCOR bats (my kids are in youth ball so I'm researching aluminum/composite bats constantly). Just seems like they should switch to wood. I just read up on it a bit and it does sound like the cost of buying bats is the primary reason. That seems bizarre to me.
  24. I'm not sure you do...
