  1. BlueRocky - your posts are a ray of sunshine during the current shitnado. That's a cool story. Veen seems like a true gamer. I LOVE this side of baseball.
  2. That's a beautiful swing.
  3. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told ESPN's Scott Van Pelt that the investigation involving the Red Sox is complete. In a televised interview with Van Pelt, Manfred went over a plethora of issues, and the conversation finished with the allegations of sign-stealing by the Red Sox. Manfred told the ESPN anchor that the investigation is finished, and that there just hasn't been time for the commissioner to file a written report. He did, however, say that there will be something from the MLB office before the start of the regular season. As to when he expects the 2020 season to begin, Manfred mentioned that he was "optimistic" that things could get ramped up again by the middle of May but was non-committal on any firm date. He also said that they will "probably not" be able to play a full 162-game campaign and noted that they will need to be "creative" with the scheduling in both the regular season and postseason while not dismissing the possibility of playing seven-inning doubleheaders.
  4. Yeah I'd definitely prefer to add another positional player than another arm.
  5. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Major League Baseball has agreed with the MLBPA to grant a full year of service time to players in 2020 regardless of how many games the schedule includes. Rosenthal adds, however, that the two sides "have agreed to table discussions on how much service time the players would receive" if the worst-case scenario plays out and the 2020 season has to be canceled entirely.
  6. f*** those guys.
  7. I'm pretty sure he continues to confuse 'case mortality rate' and 'global mortality rate'...
  8. C'mon Boxy - even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  9. This list is also missing Fever Pitch.
  10. I really agree with that list - except For Love of the Game is wayyyy too low for my liking.
  11. Simulate a video baseball game to replicate the numbers. I saw people were doing this for March Madness.
  12. I love Moneyball - it's on my list of movies I watch almost every time I see it on TV.
  13. Sorry - I'm that guy. Did you see the trade? Hopkins and a 4th for David Johnson and a 2nd Bills land Diggs and have to give up significantly more. Terrific Tom isn't returning to the Pats.
  14. Here's an idea - move this to the OT Coronavirus thread.
  15. WTF are the Texan's doing?
  16. you should check out some Emotional Intelligence books DR.
  17. I read the spanish flu killed about 10% of the infected people. Covid 19 isn't anywhere close to that yet. I also read the heat does kill it (26-27 degrees Celsius). But my s*** is from Facebook so who the f*** knows. Regardless - why the f*** are you insulting people?
  18. Apparently we took a close look at Matt Harvey... Jon Heyman reported on this week’s Big Time Baseball podcast that Matt Harvey worked out for the Blue Jays "several weeks" back. Heyman says that the Jays "seriously" considered signing Harvey but ultimately decided against it. This is the first we've heard of any interest in Harvey this offseason. He posted a 7.09 ERA for the Angels last season before being released midseason.
  19. What's up with Scooter? Coming off 2 huge seasons. Tears his groin and was awful last year Now is unsigned? 1 year removed from 4.5 WAR....is he holding out for a starting gig? Why isn't he signed?
  20. I think it's more that Espinal's has like 100 at bats in AAA and we have very little depth at MI within the upper minors. Having Espinal sit on the big league bench isn't going to help his development. There's probably a very slim chance we get 2017 Joe Panik again, but if we do - like we did with Sogard last year, we can get a couple of lottery tickets for him. There's also a pretty good chance that Espinal would post a 76 wRC+ in the bigs...
  21. Espinal has options, so it's really not much of a battle.
