I hear you man. I have to imagine it's the health concerns - and not the SSS 2020 results that are impacting the slide? Might be some of the analytics on his spin rates and such too? Might be teams over thinking it.
I agree on Hancock. I read in a mock yesterday how he was shaping up to be one of the best 1-1 picks in awhile after his 2019 season. That's high praise that now seems to be overshadowed by like 4 starts in 2020. The big unknown seems to be the report on his health, with some concern as to why he was shut down last year and was slow out of the gate this year. If teams get that information and it suggests a clean bill of health - he seems like an upside pick.
Yeah - I see it in your YouTube link....but not as much in the 2 embedded videos.
I see it a lot in this video from his time with the USA team
Might just be camera angles.
We haven't even talked about Robert Hassell. Kiley has him 6th overall now. Much more likely to stick in CF as a good defender. He looks like a future stud too.
Dozier was a 5-6 WAR player at his peek. I guess Metafor will have to rule on whether you're allowed to compare a potential top 5 draft pick to someone that good.
I mean in terms of a hitter. He's a .290 hitter with a 10% walk rate and 25 hr/year (until last year). That's essentially the hitter that BlueRocky described above. It certainly doesn't appear that he'll provide the defensive value that Rendon does, although his base running may be similar.
Perhaps I should have said - does he have the potential to be a Rendon type player (probably with less defensive value)?
This is getting really interesting. Owner caved to the players and agreed to pay a full pro-rated salary right?
Either they are just low balling it (while giving up the full pro-rated salary) so they can meet in the middle around 82 games (which is what they originally wanted) - or they are trying to 'miss' the 2nd wave.
I still think this has to be viewed as a step in the right direction.
Same - I thought it started at 8 and went down to hit record at like 7:30 only to find it half over. I scrolled through and couldn't find any re-runs. Has anyone found it online yet? Please share.
NHL and NBA start well before December. I did hear the NBA was thinking of waiting and opening on Christmas Day and making that the 'new norm'.
So with that said - why don't you hear any of this from the NFL? They aren't negotiating salaries based on empty stadiums, they don't seem worried about playing in the fall, etc.
If the NHL and NBA don't think they'll be able to start next year at the normal time - I would assume they'll end up in payment negotiations like MLB is?
What a mess.
never seen that before...
Edit - and here's a pretty cool science video of them hitting a ball 696 ft (skip to about the 13 minute mark if you want to skip all the fails).
Why is it only MLB that's bitching about money? What is happening in the NHL, NBA and NFL? Why was it a complete non-story there?
Whether it's CBA disputes, money, cheating or steroids - it seems MLB is always in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Veen or Gonzales?
If Kiley's report is correct and that TrackMan data on Hancock aren't good either, then Max Meyer probably becomes a much stronger possibility at 5.
What are the NBA and NHL doing in terms of salaries? Do they have agreements in place for playing with no fans? I guess it might be easier for them seeing as they played most of the regular season already...
Has the NFL addressed what will happen if fans can't return for games in September?
