According to SNY's Andy Martino, right-hander Taijuan Walker has emerged as the "top target" for the Mets on what remains of the free agent pitching market.
"The sides do not yet have an agreement," writes Martino, "but have engaged in extensive discussions." If something can't be worked out with Walker, the Mets could then pivot to Jake Odorizzi. Walker, 28, is said to be looking for a multi-year contract worth $10 million per year after registering a shiny 2.70 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 50/19 K/BB ratio in 53 innings (11 starts) last season between the Mariners and Blue Jays.

He wants a multi year deal with $10M+? That explains why he isn't signed yet. Hard pass for me. Hope that Mets sign him and the price for Odorizzi drops into the 2 year $25M range with a 3rd year club option.
