  1. Yeah I'd be interested in that.
  2. According to SNY's Andy Martino, right-hander Taijuan Walker has emerged as the "top target" for the Mets on what remains of the free agent pitching market. "The sides do not yet have an agreement," writes Martino, "but have engaged in extensive discussions." If something can't be worked out with Walker, the Mets could then pivot to Jake Odorizzi. Walker, 28, is said to be looking for a multi-year contract worth $10 million per year after registering a shiny 2.70 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 50/19 K/BB ratio in 53 innings (11 starts) last season between the Mariners and Blue Jays. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He wants a multi year deal with $10M+? That explains why he isn't signed yet. Hard pass for me. Hope that Mets sign him and the price for Odorizzi drops into the 2 year $25M range with a 3rd year club option.
  3. There was probably lots of verbal discuss on term, length, options, etc. but we probably never got close enough to formalize an offer. This s*** happens all the time man.

The only argument is Lemieux had to battle and beat cancer in the middle of his career and (separately) took 3 years off before returning in the middle of the season to score 35 goals with 76 points in just 43 games. Points per game for their career, Wayne was 1.92 and Mario was 1.88. IMO, Mario was as good as Wayne - he just couldn't stay healthy. Wayne was incredible - and incredibly healthy throughout his career. Orr averaged 122 points and a +80 rating (holy f***!) from age 21 through 26 before blowing out his knee. Again, with healthy, who knows where his stats end up.
  5. At least this confirms my suspicions that the Giants will suck.

Wayne has Orr and Lemieux Micheal has LeBron Baseball doesn't really have a clear GOAT Tiger has Jack I don't think any sport has 1 single person who's miles ahead of his competition.
  7. Looks like Bellinger

You say that like he was some pedestrian QB who just played on great teams. Brady holds many quarterback records, including combined passing yards (91,653), regular season touchdown passes (581) and career touchdowns (664), in addition to the most Pro Bowl selections (14, tied with 4 others) and the second-most regular season passing yards (79,204). Also - quarterback is the single most influential position for winning in any team sport...and it's not even remotely close. I'm not saying it's the be all, end all - but it matters more than winning in other sports does. That also makes it difficult to compare across other sports.
  10. That just simply isn't true. Nobody sees Shoe as a top tier pitcher. There were a lot of circumstances around that decision last year. I like Shoe and he's someone who may benefit a lot from the new baseball. But he can't stay healthy.
  11. Ray tried to improve his control - which was pretty awful in 2018 and 2019. He tried to shorten his arm path ala Bieber and Giolitto. If he was successful, it probably would have made him one of baseball's elite pitchers. It didn't work and he scrapped it mid season.
  12. Highly doubt Rosenthal is coming to TO. He'll want the opportunity to close and I fully expect we promised that to Yates. Too bad though - he'd be awesome in our pen.
  13. It's really a 2 year $85M deal. Crushes the AAV record for a pitcher.
  14. The yips IS the mental block. f*** me. He took a fly ball off the face and was never the same. Also, can we please not compare this to playing Chris Colabello out of position in the OF? If you want to call him mentally weak and unable to handle the stress of playing in the ML's, then I guess, but I wouldn't.
  15. I don't see the value in Marwin - we already have lots of versatility.
  16. I agree - we need to see 2nd half Panik for him to be worth a roster spot. I'd much rather have a specialist like a lefty masher or a speedster.
  17. Jedd Gyorko it is!
  18. To be honest, we have so much beautiful flexibility that Marwin didn't interest me. If we want another bench infielder, give me a lefty masher like Jedd Gyorko or someone like Brad Miller - give me an impact bat that can play 3rd/1st, maybe some 2nd and DH if needed. What's Jed Lowrie up to these days? He was a beast in 2017 and 2018.
  19. I don't even understand what you're saying. Fisher had a mental block (or some anxiety issue) that made him unable to catch flyballs during games. Did you think someone who's played baseball his entire life suddenly couldn't catch a flyball?
  20. Unless we add another OFer or someone like Marwin who can play all over - wouldn't we just have started the year with Grichuk as the 4th OF/DH (platoon with Tellez) and Fisher on the bench (optioning Davis to AAA)? Or do you think they'll just keep Grichuk as the only backup OFer, recognizing Biggio can play there too? Use the extra roster spot for more relievers? Regardless - for me - I would have DFA'd Wag's or the new guy they just signed when Shun was cut. I would have kept Fisher through Spring Training as protection against an injury to any of our top 4 OFers - while giving Fisher a chance to prove he's over the yips. That said, all of this probably doesn't matter. If we had a major injury in Spring Training, we can go sign Puig or one of the other solid OFers still looking for a job.
  21. I'm not sure if it's confirmed, but there's like a 98% chance he was dealing with a mental block. But let's make fun of him right? He has such loud tools and a LH outfielder was something this team could use. There's probably a 90% chance he never develops into a solid player, but his upside is much higher than most of our fringe roster guys.
  22. I don't like dropping Fisher while keeping Wag's.
  23. For me, Wag's is the most obvious one to let go from that list.
