  1. https://yanksgoyard.com/2021/05/21/yankees-erik-kratz-rockies-dodgers-cheating/ Not sure if I missed this, but Kratz called out the Rockies for cheating like the Astros in 2018 - also suggested another team that recently went to the WS was also cheating. I think we all suspected this. Seems odd that if they 'caught' the Rockies doing it against them in 2018 that they wouldn't have called them out right then and there.
  2. Adames has warts, but this return seems light no?
  3. It's Franco time!
  4. Just to state the facts - Biggio has gone from the 100th percentile for chase rate (in 2019 and 2020) to the 81st percentile so far in 2021. Is he trying to be more aggressive and drive in runs? or is he simply pressing a bit after a slow start? I'm not sure anyone on this board knows the answer to that and it's not like it's fallen off the cliff. His incredible eye allows him to target pitches he can handle/drive and that's the root of his success. Gurriel on the other hand may have all kinds of physical tools, but he has no eye or plate discipline at all. He's in the 4th percentile for chase rate right now and his career best was the 17th percentile last year (12th in 2019). There's typically no reason at all for a pitcher to throw him a strike - or at least anything that isn't on the edge of the strike zone. Unfortunately, that leads to him having to hit 'pitchers pitches' instead of pitches he can handle - while doing damage anytime a pitcher makes a mistake by throwing him something near the heart of the plate. This makes him very streaky. When he's going well, the mistakes end up getting hit into the gap or over the fence. When he's cold, he misses those mistakes. Biggio and Gurriel are polar opposites, but I think you discount the 'tool' of plate discipline and the advantages it provides hitters.
  5. Yeah - just to be clear, I'm not overly concerned about Gurriel at this point either. It's just odd that the casual/trolls on the board are picking on Biggio and Tellez, but not Gurriel. If you look under the hood, they should be more concerned with Gurriel than possibly anyone else.
  6. I find it odd that so many are s***ing on Biggio and Tellez at the plate - and nobody is talking about Gurriel. wRC+ Biggio 81 Espinal 77 Davis 76 Gurriel 51 Panik 47 Tellez 44 Jansen 34 Is Lourdes getting a pass because he's known as a 'slow starter' or a 'streaky' hitter? Every one of Gurriel's advanced metrics are WAYYY down this year. Average exit velocity, Barrel %, Hard Hit %, etc. At least Biggio's average and max exit velocities are actually better than 2020 and 2019 - while most of the other metrics are all very similar. If you look under the hood a bit, I think we should be a lot more concerned with Lourdes than we should Biggio (who has similar defensive liabilities which way less versatility).
  7. This. It's like half the crowd turned on the Blue Jays game tonight for the first time since 2016.
  8. There are lots of know it all's around here man. If that bothers you and you prefer a crowd that agrees every blown save is avoidable and that Espinal is a better baseball player than Biggio then this might not be the place for you. I might suggest Facebook or Reddit.
  9. Reading GDT's when we lose is like jabbing yourself with AIDS straight to the eyeballs.
  10. I'm just saying Matt Barnes is f***ing nasty. Ripping a guy for fouling off a pitch that's way off the plate is stupid. Our hitters are up there literally hanging on for dear life, just praying for a mistake.
  11. People s***ing on the bullpen and manager is a f***ing joke. That's out first loss when leading in the 9th inning - on a team that lost Yates, Merryweather, Castro, Borucki, Romano, Dolis, etc. at one point or another. I don't like Charlie - but him and this bullpen deserve credit when credit is due. Expecting perfection is just plain stupid. It's like they've never watched or followed baseball before.
  12. Do you realize how good Matt Barnes is? 1.2 WAR in 20 innings this year. More WAR than Ryu over 46 innings - and Ryu's been great this year.
  13. Is this a result of making our board more visible on Google? Atrocious
  14. You want our 3rd best relief pitcher facing the heart of the order in the 7th instead? I don't like Charlie at all - but he handled this just fine. His players didn't execute. It happens.
  15. This is spot on. All you f***s bitching that Montoyo is an idiot are dumn. Our best relievers pitched through the heart of the lineup. Our 3rd best pen arm came in to face the 8, 9 and 1 hitters. Charlie played this well. Dolis is coming off the DL and didn't have it tonight. You can argue that it 'looked' like Dolis didn't have it and Montoyo should have pulled him right away...but f*** me - does Dolis ever look like he's completely in control? Baseball happens - grow up.
  16. The Red Sox broadcast team is f***ing horrendous. Dolis has some of the most unhittable stuff in baseball....he just doesn't know where it's going. JD hit a slider - they should look up how much success batters have had v. his slider over the past 2 years. ****s.
  17. f*** I was just saying that to my wife too - and we're not high. They aren't there, so the TV they are watching it on is ahead of us right?
  18. what the f*** is wrong with you? stop this unnecessary trolling.
  19. Gausman is a force - but it also seems that the Giants are successfully bringing a ton of pitchers back from the dead. They've made Gausman into a near ace. Cueto Sanchez DeSclafani Alex Wood All of them are back having good seasons. Sanchez is somehow doing it while hardly breaking 90. They're either just getting very luck right now, or their staff deserve a s*** ton of credit.
  20. Can we please play the Twins before they turn their season around? Thanks.
  21. WTF is wrong with Luis Castillo?
  22. Jim - almost every FA contract becomes an albatross at some point. You get to add one of the very best players in baseball instantly. You don't have the crapshoot or the time it takes to drafting and development. You also don't have to give up prospect capital like you do via trade. Dealing with a someone who is overpaid and underperforming for the last year or 2 of the contract is the price you pay to get 4 or 5 great years from a great player who cost nothing but $.
