  1. Red Sox are dealing Benintendi for Franchy Cordero and Winchowski? WTF? There must be more to this.
  2. Mets missed out on Bauer, so Bryant and Hendriks to the Mets for Alvarez might have traction?
  3. I actually could probably live with Porcello, Rosenthal and Panik
  4. This is pretty cringe worthy man. If hitting the ball to all field effectively and bunting for base hits against the shift were even remotely easy to do - then the shift wouldn't exist.
  5. That thought process is correct. The less damage Biggio can do, the more pitchers will challenge him.
  6. MIN and CLE are better than the White Sox? Braves are a 4th place team? I mean that's all possible, but still interesting. Man - seeing those standings makes me miss baseball. Let's get Spring Training going!
  7. This lines up well with our focus on solidifying our defense this offseason.
  8. Good thing we kept Charlie. Charlie was just preparing his team for this shift in philosophy so they are ahead of the curve during their competitive window. 4D chess s*** from Shatkins and Charlie.
  9. While I have to agree that the end product wasn't good, AA did draft several players who were very highly regarded, but simply never turned out for whatever reason. Sanchez Norris Pompey Alford Hoffman Pentecost He also did draft Joe Musgrove Matt Boyd Kevin Pillar (not that he deserves a ton of credit here) Tellez Jansen Romano Borucki Sam Dyson Patrick Murphy OK - his drafting wasn't great, but he did use loopholes in the system to rebuild the system and he used that perceived value to land us players that helped us win (Price, Tulo, etc.). Perhaps you might say he needed all those extra picks because even a broken clock is right twice a day...What's interesting is that Tinnish has been a main stay throughout both regimes. AA also deserves credit for unloading V.Wells, landing Morrow, Lawrie (even if he didn't work out), Estrada, etc...and of course for signing Vlad.
  10. It's amazing that Evans and Godwin combined caught 3 balls and they still rolled over the Chiefs.
  11. Would be really interesting to know how this all went. I mean it seems foolish to think you've signed someone before they've actually signed anything...but were they given the verbal acceptance "yes, Mr. Bauer accepts those terms, please draw up the Contract and we will sign it" and then they just bailed and went to the Dodgers? If so, that's not cool.
  12. Nah - JPP got called because he hit him low...
  13. Brady and Gronk are legendary - simply amazing.
  14. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Ozuna was a f***ing beast last year, but in 4 of the past 6 seasons his wRC+ has been <110. For someone who's bad defensively, his production may not be much better than Grichuk if his bat returns to what it was in 2018-2019. That said - his savant metrics suggest he's a beast and the gains he's made in BB% over the last 2 years suggest he's made the necessary adjustments.
  15. Trade for Price, sign Rosenthal and call it an offseason for the ages!
  16. what is this based on? oh wait. nothing...it's based on nothing.
  17. um...no. The Jays are signing Odorizzi and Rosenthal thank you very much.
  18. Could the Jays get Price and a prospect from LA in exchange for taking his contract (so LA can stay under the luxury cap)? Not many teams are looking to add payroll....
  19. I have no problem with what Bauer is doing. He's one of the most interesting people in baseball and drawing attention to himself promotes baseball. People always bitch that MLB doesn't market the game well and because of that, it's fallen behind football and basketball. Then when someone is out there drawing attention to baseball - we act like it's 1984 and want him to be quiet. This guy has studied the art of pitching and has been one of the pioneers of change in the ability to get every ouch of production from the talent you have. He was ahead of the game when he first broke in and Arizona traded him because they were way behind his own knowledge and didn't like it.
  20. Bauer is smart - as the opt-outs allow him to hedge his bet. If he's awesome, he re-enters the market, if he sucks, he doesn't opt out and still gets his $100M.
  21. Buying out their arbitration years doesn't mean we start giving them $25M a year in day 1. I don't think signing our studs to extensions now wouldn't have a huge impact on the payroll for the next few years.
  22. I think the Jays should be all over a deal like this. I think this is perfect timing for the Jays to do something like this and have no problem giving him an AAV of $35M to $40M for a couple of years before our own home grown talent needs an extension.
  23. Funny thing is Semien probably doesn't bat early in the order...that's how deep we are.
