  1. I doubt Giants fans have even heard of Spencer Miles. He threw like 12 professional innings for them in 3+ years. At some point they may catch on and realize they may have lost a legit arm - probably not there yet beyond the die-hard fans (like us).
  2. Heck of an AB for Valenzuela. Tough as nails. And his 1st ever SB. Gotta love what we've seen from him.
  3. I agree - that's why he cost nothing but a lottery ticket. We were just hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. I suspect they thought a new voice or a tweak in his approach may unlock something as well. Same reason they grabbed Sanchez when Santander went out for the year. Sometimes you don't catch that lightning. If it were easy to do, everyone would do it. I applaud the GM for not sitting on his hands - he's shown some urgency to add/plug holes at reasonable/low cost. Those will always be long shots. I guess the criticism is that he didn't got bigger and get more proven bats. I'm not sure it was critical enough at the time that we wanted to start emptying the farm. Injuries to Kirk, Springer, Barger and Lukes, combined with Vlad and DS sh*tting the bed has made it near impossible for any secondary move like to really have much impact either way. I think if Atkins would have known that this is what would have happened, he may have taken another approach - but I don't think anyone would have predicted this (except for a few of the most knowledgeable fans of all-time of course, who just knew this was going to happen).
  4. I suspect you're right, but I think that's a sh*tty reason. I guess there's no precedence of a stat being "removed", but we added stats like saves and we've modified the rules over the years to impact apples to apples comparison of various stats.
  5. Top prospect Robby Snelling gets the call to the bigs, starts 1 game, doesn't pitch well and now needs TJS. Life as a pitcher is simply brutal man. I feel so bad for that kid.
  6. Brock - that chart should be updated to include Fisher's pitches yesterday. I do enjoy having it thought - it gives everyone a rough idea of who is an isn't available for each game.
  7. Exactly why I suggest they should be removed from the sport. Wins have always been nonsensical. Teams win, players do not.
  8. Yeah that's fair. I have to think there's something in his profile they thought could help the offense and it's difficult to give up on him after a SSS of at bats. Now they're in that uncomfortable position where I suspect the models suggest he should turn a corner here at some point (he was a 100 wRC+ hitter with 22 HRs last year), but you can't wait much longer for him to get hot. I don't think teams can predict when hitters get hot. Almost every hitter is streaky. It certainly sucks goats that Sosa's been stone cold since arriving. I thought it was worth a flyer to see if he could give the offense a shot in the arm, maybe we could catch him during a hot streak, but it's been the complete opposite. I suspect they're just hanging onto him until someone else gets healthy...or maybe 2 people get healthy because you could certainly send an equality disappointing DS down to AAA. I understand why they acquired Sosa and applaud them for doing "something" and not waiting. I think the results are generally outside of Atkin's control. This is all about when you pull the plug and try to throw something else against the wall and hope it sticks. This is the type of stuff I hate seeing fans blame the FO for.
  9. Looks like Spencer Strider isn't returning to form. He's still down 2 MPH from his dominant years (2022-23). He's getting extremely lucky right now with a low BABIP, high LOB%. Walks and HR/9 are sky high. Stuff+ went from like 117, down to 96. A good reminder that not everyone returns to form after TJS. That's too bad. He was so fun to watch when he was dominant.
  10. If trading a nobody for Sosa is the worst thing in recent memory than I think he's doing OK.
  11. Well I assume we'd have to give them something in return that would help them too... The juggernaut White Sox probably aren't worried about the Blue Jays anyway 😉
  12. We could really use a lefty masher IMO. Bring me prime Steve Pearce or Rob Refsnyder. It would be great if he could play 2nd, so we could move Clement to SS and Gimenez to the bench v LHP, but honestly, we can't be starting Barger, Varsho and Lukes/Pinago v. LHP Unfortunately, Straw doesn't hit lefties that well either. He's kinda useless outside of a pinch runner and defensive replacement. Our platoons suck balls because nobody can hit lefties. Go get Austin Hays - he still mashes lefties and he's sitting in AAA, unable to crack the White Sox lineup.
  13. Looks like Fisher, Miles, Yariel, Hoffman and Rogers to close tonight. Macko as the lefty specialist.
  14. Thoughts on whether Chris Sale is a HOFer? He'll probably exceed 60 career WAR this year, career ERA, xERA, FIP and xFIP all below 3.00, 11.1 K/9, 2.1 BB/9
  15. Nobody can "get it". Batters are hitting 0.160 v. his fastballs this year. He's unreal.
  16. Yep - traded Bieber to us and Sewald to the Tigers and still made the WC after going on a tear at the end of the year. The Tigers blew the 15.5 game lead in the division... The Flaherty/Detroit one always pops into my mind. He was pitching near/at a #1 level when they dealt him to LA and still made the playoffs and won a round.
  17. Berrios underwent TJS today - out 12-18 months. I didn't know this was the solution to his broken elbow. RIP
  18. It would be sweet if they could sell AND still slip into the WC and maybe win a round. We've seen teams do this in past years. I think Detroit was the latest when they dealt Flaherty to LA in 2024.
  19. News flash to Lauer - you're not a starting pitcher. You're a long man who makes spot starts. That goes for any pitcher who has an opener used in front of them.
  20. You trying to justify suicide jokes is f*cking pathetic. Karma's a b*tch.
  21. Only perfection is acceptable. What kind of loser excuse is this? 😉
  22. It was a joke in response to all the complaints about our lineup - like people wanted to just fold up and go home...
