  1. I can't tell if you're serious...
  2. connorp's favourite GM!
  3. I think this is the right approach, although I'm doubtful we're going to have the pieces in place to win in 2026 either. We're probably unloading Bo, Gausman, Bassitt, Romano (if arm is intact) and possibly Varsho next year. Look for bounce back candidates or guys trying to rebuild value, sign them to short term deals, promise lots of playing time and then cash them over the next couple of years. Eye up 2027 and 2028 at the earliest to compete. That said, I agree with Term's post above. I think you can piece together a team that could compete for a WC spot next year. But, I worry that's just a bandaid that will set the retool/rebuild back several years if you're going to keep all those pending FA's through the end of next year and lose them for nothing.
  4. That's also a factor, but it never helps when he's not pitching well. Teams in the thick of the race can't afford to give him 4-5 starts to turn things around - that could sewer their season. They want guys who are performing NOW (like Randy Arozerena is hot).
  5. 100% The Dodgers will be easy to cheer for in October. I hope the thrill of the playoff race gives KK a little dead cat bounce. He's had a REALLY good career and is one of the best defensive CFers to ever play the game IMO. He certainly still has the ability to be a difference maker in October. I hope his body cooperates and we get to see it. I know I'll be rooting him on.
  6. His 6+ ERA over the last month or so may have tanked his value.
  7. We traded 7 guys man. Can't you just accept that they may have canvased the league, looking for good value in return for Green and it wasn't there, so they held him? If Green's pitching great next year, they can deal him then. He'd probably have more value as an expiring contract than he would with $10.5M attached to him next year. I don't get the WTF, like you're all confused about this. The Jays just has a REALLY GOOD trade deadline. It certainly seems like they know what they're doing.
  8. Some people are just never happy.
  9. One of the best value signings in recent Blue Jays history
  10. This seems like one of those "good faith" moves. KK says he retiring at the end of the year. He has little to no value on the trade market (even if the Jays eat the rest of his contract), so they move him (and hopefully all of the remaining money) to the Dodgers to give him one last shot at a title. Jays get someone to "protect" the younger arms for the rest of the season. I'm good with this.
  11. Eloy to the O's
  12. This seems like a good return too doesn't it? 2023 6th round pick. Great start in A ball last year (like really great in a SSS). Has struggled at A+ ball this year, but it's only his age 21 season. Good lottery pick for a JAG relief pitcher.
  13. You're expecting more in return for what several complained was a horrible FA signing? That's bizarre...this seems like a great trade for the Jays and should get them under the luxury tax threshold.
  14. Should we call and see if the O's want Manoah? LOL
  15. What does Baltimore see in Rogers? Great in 2021, but it's been all downhill since. Velo down over 2 MPH, K% down, BB% up, injury concerns.
  16. I think I would have assumed she was going to brush her teeth after sucking me off. No need to brush twice. Otherwise, she's a monster for eating a donut and then going to sleep without brushing.
  17. Is this the biggest decision in Blue Jays history?
  18. He's likely viewed to have a similar value as Eflin did. Eflin is owed a few million less next year, is younger and did pitch at a higher level last year (which otherwise he's never done). Typical season by Bassitt is better than a typical season by Eflin though. Neither have much playoff experience/success.
  19. Is Wagner a Jeff McNeill clone?
  20. Jo Adell was the #1 prospect in baseball at one point man. Yes, there were some question marks, but you can't pretend like everyone knew he'd be a bum. Most/all prospects have something they are still developing. It's very difficult to know which ones will figure it out and which won't. Great GM's f*** up that evaluation all the time because there's always a probability of failure that is often outside of their control. It's just like a great poker player. They know the odds inside and out, yet they still lose quite often. In your theoretical scenario, you have to factor in the likelihood that one (or both) of the stud prospects you trade Vlad for could bust - with little to nothing you can do about it.
  21. Yesavage certainly has the potential to be an elite guy.
  22. Not exactly. Trading him now and watching him to back to the 2-3 WAR, 120-130 wRC+ player he was in 2022-23 could be a franchise altering move - as could extending him and watching him hit like Miggy from Age 26 through 33. This is a monumental decision for the Jays. There will be probabilities of each outcome and nobody will truly know what Vlad will become with any sort of certainty. Someone is going to weigh the odds of different outcomes and make a decision. I really hope they "hit". We know fans will s*** on them if they don't - even if they have very little control of the outcome.
  23. Jays may have to pitch in $$ to improve the return from Bassitt...They should be exploring that though. You can just use the $21M in the offseason.
  24. That would likely be the best rotation in baseball man. Seems unlikely but fun to consider.
  25. um....that's a good thing? OPTION A - trade all the expiring contracts for prospects. Have more prospects to build the team around and/or trade when needed for additional help. OPTION B - don't trade the expiring contracts. Have fewer prospects to build the team around or trade for additional help.
