I think people are underestimating just how f***ing good Soto is. This is like signing a 26 year old Pujols, or even Frank Thomas. He's potentially one of the best hitters of all-time. He's plenty marketable and is worth a f***ton of money. For reference, Pujols provided 51.7 WAR in his age 26-35 (10 year span) seasons.

Did Gil win the ROY based on Wins and ERA? I know 150 innings from a starter is valuable in today's world, but he was almost half the WAR of Cowser. Skenes's WAR was below Merrill too, but at least he was f***ing dominant...

The critique is the rules have changed since Lincecum and Strasburg. There's now a risk/reward decision to be made based on the potential to gain draft picks and years of control. The Pirates decisions surrounding Skenes cost them.

Go back and watch the 2 fights before Paul/Tyson, included the woman's fight. They were both incredible. Non-stop action for all 12 rounds. Those people beat the living s*** out of each other. -

Let's be honest - Tyler Heineman is probably starting 50+ games next year guys. I mean there's a chance we sign some old vet catcher for $1M-$2M, but I can't see much of the remaining budget being spent behind the plate.

I mean sure - but we have 17 holes to fill. I can't imagine backup catcher is high on the priority list.

Yeah I saw that. Should make for a rather terrible Grey Cup with the Argos backup QB in there. I don't tune into the Grey Cup anymore, but I know it's still super popular. I'm sure it could be entertaining if you have some side bets and a rooting interest.

Correct. Chet is out 8 weeks and the Thunder already had 2 big men out. Poeltl to OKC seems to make a lot of sense...the 2024/25 Raps should be TANKING...

We aren't getting Vlad long-term for Devers money. It's going to be a massive amount for an all bat, no defense, no base running, no IQ player. Like signing Manny Ramirez. -
So far, so good. He certainly looks like he's able to score at this level. He's the current front runner for "most improved". I've also been impressed with Barrett and Poeltl. Barrett looks like a franchise player and Poeltl very strong big. Agbaji looks like he's taken a step forward, Mogbo has looked good, Shead has shown glimpses too. All things considered, the Raps have given me a reason to at least tune in, while they deal with all these injuries. I do hope they have some pieces there. They should add a top lottery pick this year and if they "hit", they could be back on the way up faster than folks anticipate. C - Poeltl PF - Barnes SF - Barrett SG - Dick PG - IQ Bench - Agbaji, Walter, Mogbo, Shead, Mitchell "Hit" on a Top 5 pick next year and they could be cooking with oil fairly quick.

I was just reading how Torres had a 124 wRC+ in the 2nd half after making some mechanical adjustments. He was a pretty legit offensive option for them down the stretch and thru the playoffs. I saw that while reading a projection that he's going to get 5 years $90M this offseason, which made me vomit in my mouth a bit.....but I guess if true, after a 120 wRC+ season in 2023 - he might actually be rather sought after this offseason. The Yanks were 3rd in baseball in runs scored and added Jazz down the stretch. They were a legit offense.

Was Joe Kelly hurt? or left off the playoff roster due to his s***** results? I see he's now a FA. He'd be a nice target if you could get him for peanuts.

It's hilarious to see all these reports and now players speaking out about how awful the Yankees defense was and how they knew it would bite them in the ass at some point and how it gave LA such an advantage. Yet when our own team (built on a great offense/poor defense) fails in 2021 and 2022 - our fans s*** on the GM for trying to change the makeup of the team to address the s***** defense - like it was the WRONG thing to do. The plan itself, to sacrificing some offense for defense, was a good idea. When you combined it with the offensive collapse of Vlad (2023), Kirk, Springer, etc. - it made it look like a massive over correct that failed miserably. That said - The Yanks were a few games away from winning it all - so in our SSS playoffs - even the teams with the massive hole in the armor can still win it all.
