  1. basketball is wayyy more intense than baseball aswell. baseball is a 162 game grind for 3 hours every single day. sustained runs of success or failure are extremely hard to come by for 95% of the teams that arent great like the cubs or bad like the braves. basketball is based on streaks. teams streak in the season like the raptors and their hot start, and teams streak during the game like when the heat came back from being down 20 points. those moments are very intense meanwhile when i am watching baseball and i see tulo make an error or something i can brush that off much easier... then again in the playoffs i wouldnt. thats the reason actually. f***ing playoffs man. we live and die by every play. it will be the same if the jays make the playoffs this year.
  2. yeah man when demar is off the floor we play some really nice team basketball. the ball is flowing and the defense is humming. thats about as positive as it gets right now. JV injury sucks big balls, Carrolls new injury sucks, & DeMar just plain sucks, but Lowry has turned the corner, CoJo is stepping up huge, & Biyombo is a very viable place setter for JV. oh yeah we also attacked the rack better when DeRozan was on the bench and ran way more fastbreaks. Lowry, CoJo, and Biyombo were running the floor great. the timeout plays have been superb. i am actually in awe of this. i dunno who is drawing the plays up but it is really inspiring.
  3. i wish i was more savvy with computers and video editing and stuff like that because i would love to make a highlight reel of demar derozan at the end of quarters. he has the ball at the end of quarters 1-3 like clockwork every single game so there would be a lot to work from in these playoffs alone. he's not guaranteed to get it in the 4th quarter, thankfully.
  4. first thing i saw when i turned my tv on today. almost did a spit take lol.
  5. i forgot about the pick. that sounds perfect to me though. ideally we could get a SF behind Carroll so there isn't much pressure to develop him but if we can come away with an upgrade for Patterson in the draft that would be fine as well. i'm on board. draft a Forward Masai. *goes to look at draft express* players ranked 8-12 are all PF/C types. Jamal Murray would be cool obviously if he dropped (DX has him #6). i dont see it happening and we dont really need it but it would be cool.
  6. PG = Kyle Lowry - Cory Joseph SG = Norman Powell - Terrence Ross SF = DeMarre Carroll - ?????????? PF = ?????????? - Patrick Patterson C = Jonas Valanciunas - ?????????? Our Forward rotation is really weak so that is where I would put most of the money if it was up to me. Ross and Powell should not be spending so much time at SF, neither should DeRozan honestly. I'd be fine spending big on a PF to replace DeRozan. A few people have mentioned Al Horford in the past and I think that would be a great signing myself. I dont know who else is out there right now. I also would be fine spreading the wealth around on those 3 empty spots. Could maybe keep Biyombo, make sure we have more than 1 trustworthy SF on the roster (Carroll plays PF a lot anyways), and then get the best PF you can with the money left after that.
  7. especially if we beat miami. MASAI UJIRI - "we made it to the eastern conference finals without good play from lowry and derozan. can you imagine what we can do with both of them at full strength? Max deal for DeRozan and an extension for Casey!" CASEY (paraphrase) - "I will make sure they are never healthy for the playoffs, especially Lowry "
  8. yeah it seems like most people gloss over this fact. his job is on the defensive end. he doesnt have any post moves like JV but he can pick & roll and pick & pop. honestly if he had post moves he would be like the best f***ing center in the league and a true do it all center that is so rare these days. and he can and does anchor that defence for sure. if he isnt a defensive anchor at center than who is? he is on par with the deandre jordan's and rudy gobert's of the world.
  9. i think i remember an article that said most of the time it ends up out of bounds. the team would get it back but its on a short clock situation. thats a big reason why u always hear commentators mention if the player kept the ball in bounds after a block.
  10. Yeah it could look bad in a few years I suppose if everything breaks just right for the Rockies. And honestly later on I will still be fine with it because we sent pitchers to Coors so its unlikely it bites us back in the future. Plus f*** Reyes. Could you imagine if we were still stuck paying Reyes to do nothing but beat his wife? Even when he was healthy he was s*** for us. We all already bash Rogers for all sorts of s***** budget reasons but everyone would have a field day if we put $22m into sunk costs and literally had Ryan Goins as the de facto starting SS. Lots of IFs and BUTs left over but I am fairly certain the new regime would have kept those prospects aswell.
  11. Its not a smart rebuild, but they are not a smart organization either.
  12. What is the point of it? Why is it even there to begin with? What connection does this game of baseball (or basketball or whatever) or people doing their jobs (these are PROFESSIONAL athletes) have to do with nationalism? This is not Canada vs Russia. This is Toronto vs Miami. Do YOU ever see the national anthem played literally anywhere else? The only other place it is played is in schools which are generally government run and funded. Plus I understand the thought process of governments ingraining kids with that nationalism early and often. How is it not? Thats what I am anxious to hear.
  13. you could certainly argue harris and even pentecost were BPA picks though. i cant really comment on mcguire cuz i cant remember draft rankings that far back.
  14. dont know why but i really enjoy seeing this. plus the guys at the raptor game was nice too.
  15. i hope the heat always play like this. so far they have s*** the bed in both games. might be different with them back home in miami but we can beat this team if we dont beat ourselves. easier said than done with the bricklayers guild president on our roster.
  16. man Carroll is all over those inbound passes. all night hes been doing that.
  17. heat have a better FG%, better FT%, and better 3PT% tonight. 21 bloody turnovers though
  18. ugh
  19. DeMar ISO queued up? looks like OT again.
  20. so was wade. god hes good.
  21. JV almost brings a tear to my eye. Its amazing to think he never played in the 4th quarter of games this season until about 15 days ago.
  22. Someone better fire somebody
