  1. Its weird cuz it feels like this year I have seen Pillar botch a few more plays in CF than last year.
  2. it better be slow to develop and extremely precise
  3. also verducci does his list every year http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/02/09/year-after-effect-noah-syndergaard-luis-severino
  4. whats the best place to buy tickets? stubhub? i'm looking for 3 tickets to the july 4th game vs KC.
  5. i hold scott downs in pretty high regard. mainly because when i first saw him he was absolute dogshit for us and it really amazed me how he turned it around. he proved me so wrong. thing is i remember downs could get righties out. it wasnt his specialty or anything like that and u didnt want to throw him out there every chance but he could do it. loup is kinda of going down the opposite path. plus that downs curveball was pretty sick. i cant really say that about Loups secondaries.
  6. dude matt thornton had sick stuff. he throws smoke and averaged like 95+ on his fastball until like last year which is fine cuz hes like 40 years old. Aaron Loup throws 92 and relies on a deceptive delivery. i'm so sick of him getting hammered by the 1 batter hes supposed to get out every game. a lot of people point to his advanced stats as a saving grace but they have never even been that good for a RP. somehow he has the lowest xFIP of his career this year too.
  7. i have said it many times but i think Edwin ages better than Bautista. I think they are both DH's and I think people take for granted Bautista's ability to just jump right in and play 1B. I dont expect Bautista to give as much of a discount as Edwin based on his comments throughout the start of the season. I think we get a better future hitter and a better contract with Edwin. Still lots of variables until signing time though. The more I think about it the more I like just waiting it out.
  8. he's not a streaky hitter. streaky hitters get hold and cold several times throughout the season. Edwin generally starts out cold and then rakes after the first month or two. at this point i just assume it has something to do with the weather heating up because its the same script every year.
  9. ugh. i dont have much faith in it working out there long term. we've been through it with all these sunbelt teams before but vegas is even more different. would have been smarter to just move the coyotes to nevada. bettman is gonna try as hard as he can to make that 32nd team a western conference team to help balance the schedule.
  10. you keep playing it cool hotshot
  11. first or last is really the way to be these days
  12. i love hearing about picking these players who want to be blue jays. red sox have been milking that cow for years with great success. and i'm not talking about top tier guys. those mid rounders who generally pass on signing really have to scratch their heads when their favorite teams picks them.
  13. do they do round 11 today?
  14. u make it sound like those two made a choice. they screw up on common sense things all the time that doesnt include advanced stats. they can barely get AVG or the schedule or other basic stuff right. and tabler hasnt had an original thought in 10 god damn years. and yes i remember jamie campbell in the booth. for all the flack buck and tabby take they have never been as horrible as jamie + anyone else. even as a desk guy now jamie campbell is still as stiff as a robot and as likeable as a turd. jays havent had a solid booth guy since faulds.
  15. I remember Cavan Biggio was really highly regarded out of HS. Similar to Cal Quantrill if memory serves. Obviously he didn't impress in NCAA like Qunatrill did though.
  16. that site has never been any good. stick with draftexpress.
  17. yeah and most leagues only have like 6-8 teams too. its a small player pool.
  18. FASTBALL vs righties http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=11490&position=P&ss=2016-04-05&se=2016-06-01&type=0&hand=R&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=pit&pitch=FA,FT&season=all FASTBALL vs lefties http://www.fangraphs.com/zonegrid.aspx?playerid=11490&position=P&ss=2016-04-05&se=2016-06-01&type=0&hand=L&count=all&blur=1&grid=10&view=pit&pitch=FA,FT&season=all
  19. only one who might be better than casy is dave joerger, and even then thats probably a lateral move at best. blatt sucks. i like hornacek and think he could be good but i dunno if hes worth dumping casy for. and yes i am surprised by this realization myself.
  20. dont underestimate fatbart. that guy could whip it into the zone mid 90's with wicked movement in his prime. but yeah its a good fastball. no denying that. i'd just feel better if he did more with it, or more with his secondaries. thats about it.
  21. boy ur getting heated. i dont want sanchez to fail or anything like that. i just see a guy who relies on 1 pitch who doesnt have supreme control over it and pretty much never pitches inside with it. most of his fastballs are over the heart of the plate or outside, and they arent even low they are actually higher in the zone. he just doesnt move the ball around enough imo. i dunno if thats cuz he cant locate or control it or just the gameplan or whatever. its more than possible to succeed like that, zach britton is another guy who is fastball only (granted a RP), but i just worry. its not smoke and mirrors but sanchez isnt showing much more than 1 thing. fastball outer part of the plate. try and hit it. they are failing right now but i just worry it wont last is all. its weird i worry about hi-jacking this thread but this is a thread solely devoted to how much confidence we have in aaron sanchez so i guess i am fine.
  22. when i was looking at sanchez's fastball usage to get a picture of how much he threw it i was very surprised to see stroman leading the league in sinker's. i knew he threw it a lot but i didnt think it was that much.
  23. cingrani's got a nice fastball. just not much else. it was just an example dude. bartolo colon is another one i didnt think of. compare sanchez to him now. and cingrani has still started more games than sanchez in his career even though hes a rp only now. there is still ample time to figure sanchez and his fastball only repetoire out. a pitcher is easy to figure out when u know whats coming. only a select few like mo rivera and colon can make it work long term. but hey if i am wrong at least we know sanchez will be great well into his 40's.
