  1. Masai has really done a great job of drafting and developing. Even outside OG, Delon looks like he could be an above average starter, same with Powell and Poertle. Even Siakam was great value where he was taken.
  2. Ohtani's situation reminds me of NBA Free Agent Superstars. Basically everyone knows he's going to be a surplus value so its all going to come down to a presentation on why he should sign with that team. I guess its like NCAA recruiting as well. Going to be an interesting process and teams are going to have to be creative to impress Ohtani,
  3. People are over blowing how bad the farm system was when Shapiro took over. There wasn't much depth in the upper levels (because of the trades) but it wasn't lacking talent.. Vlad Jr Alford Tellez Pentecost SRF Borucki Greene Were all here when AA left. Its not like it was the Angels or Tigers System. The biggest improvement is the development system Shapiro has installed, not the actual players which no one seems to acknowledge.
  4. I can't see him playing the OF in addition to pitching (especially with the turf if by miracle he came here). I doubt a player's legs could handle the amount of stress pitching and playing the OF takes (even twice a week) over the course of a season. I think that's why him going to the AL and DHing is more realistic.
  5. Curious, do people here think AA or Atkins is a better GM? I think part of the problem with AA's tenure was that Beeston was a terrible President. The upgrade Shapiro provides over Beeston is the underrated one IMO.
  6. The one thing I wonder is how much ownership was involved in pushing those trades. It seemed odd to all of a sudden trade for all of those players in 2013 after AA was stockpiling all of those assets. Even right now ownership seems to be pushing the directing the path the Franchise is going, and I remember seeing reports Shapiro found it difficult dealing with the higher ups of Rogers. Btw is anyone else having trouble posing replies? Seems half the time the box to write a message isn't even there or if I try to quote reply it doesn't work.
  7. Yeah I don't get the hate for him. The Miami and Dickey trades didn't work out but there were plenty of other great moves. Its good for the game that he's back in a GM role, certainly not shy of making creative trades. I still think he would have done a really good job being the GM with Shapiro in charge. His greatest strengths seems to be negotiating contracts, trades etc
  8. Interested to see if the Jays hire any new coaches. Teams are poaching pitching coordinators from other smart orgs. like Cubs and Astros and apparently giving them good $. That's probably the next big market inefficiency. Coaching makes a huge difference especially in the minors.
  9. Wow good for AA, Atlanta has to be one of the best jobs right now. Curious to see how he runs the Braves with what he's learned in LA.
  10. Worst part is all 3 of Casey, Lowry and Derozan said after the game that they liked those shots. I'm sure Masai isn't happy.
  11. I think of all the contracts on the Raps Ibaka's is the worst. He's shot really well so far this year but he's lost a ton of speed/athleticism. There's no way he's only 28 years old.
  12. I think the only keepers are Jansen and Pannone. Maybe Mcguire as well. Can't see anyone taking Pentecost. Greene should probably be traded or moved to the bullpen.
  13. I hate how these guys likely sold this footage to TMZ.
  14. I buy video games through the Playstation Store anyway. Much rather download the game and not have to screw around with discs.
  15. I know just seems terrible the way the news has come out. His twitter is filled with him and his plane.
  16. This looks really bad. Says they will be announcing person's identity at 4:15. I mean if it wasn't him couldn't someone have confirmed it by now? f***
  17. And if he does at what price. If he signs for say 6x7 that's fine but any more years/$ and that contract is worse than the one you could have had with Turris.
  18. Yeah seemsI can u like a lot to give up. I mean Duchene is better but I don't think the upgrade is worth the assets they gave up. If Duchene signs that same deal I like it but he's going to want more $. I would have rather just signed Turris for 6/36. Hell they should have just traded for Duchene and kept Turris which would have made them a legit contender.
  19. Raps could trade him and get good value back so I won't call that a bad contract. If he can maintain 90% of how good he has been to start the season that'll do. His defense has actually been a lot better too, now I'm not sure if that's sustainable but perhaps playing him less min. helps him be better at that end of the floor.
  20. Funny we all hate on Derozan but if he can keep up this shot selection and hit the 3 at 31% he's a pretty damn good player.
  21. I thought I read an interview with Shapiro and he even said he doesn't think the chances of landing Otani are very good suggesting other teams were better fits. If the President says that then there's basically no change he's coming here.
  22. Lol played 43 mins in a 48 min game. Guy is the GOAT.
  23. http://dunedin.granicus.com/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?view_id=6&clip_id=1851 You can read the nuts and bolts in the link but Dunedin and the Blue Jays finally reached an agreement for the renovation of the ST facility which means another 25 years of the Jays being in Dunedin.
  24. Isn't Kemp a 2B only though and can't play SS? Tough to have a utility IF that can't play SS.
  25. Yeah they seem a little too high on the big FA and way too low on the lower end FA.
