  1. I'm not so sure tbh. I would think the Turf would be a big issue for him coming here as an OFer. In order to get him I would think the Blue Jays have to outbid everyone by a large amount.
  2. I don't even think there would be a 5% chance. Cleveland is in a worse location than Toronto is for his family as I believe he is from California and lives in Vegas. Not to mention he would never want to play 3rd and he wants to be on a perennial winner.
  3. If Heyward has an opt out you probably pay him less than Gordon.
  4. You think Tulo is going to waive his NTC to play 3rd in Cleveland of all places?? Not a chance.
  5. Shapiro should easily be able to make an extra $50 million per season by using current technology for ticket sales, sponsorship etc.. So they obviously wouldn't be getting less money.
  6. And because Stroman is more than just a fan favourite. Fans love Stroman not just because he is a good pitcher but the Social media, swag etc.. I honestly couldn't see that trade happening anyway. Blue Jays probably overvalue Stroman because of the character while the Indians are the same way with Carrasco. And if do a trade around other pieces you are killing the prospect capital which Shapiro has said he values highly. So I really don't see a fit here.
  7. http://www.thestar.com/business/2015/10/08/blue-jays-playoff-run-adds-to-rogers-bottom-line.html If the team's value grew 500-600k in 2 years and "lost money" last year then I'm sure they made tons of money this year. That's really the closest I've heard to how much advertising revenue they have received. With cross promotion of their own shows you really can't get a true value for the TV ads anyway since other programs get more viewers which is a result of the Blue Jays. Then, there is also the carriage fees Sportsnet can charge. Those revenues would be more of a factor for the coming year(s) but then that gets back to my entire point of the whole thing which is that the Blue Jays should be putting more money into the team. If they are getting additional revenue of close to 100-200 Million next year then why keep payroll the same or lower it?
  8. What benefit does Rogers have of disclosing how much money they make off the Blue Jays? If fans find out they made 100 million in profit and didn't raise payroll that would piss them off even more.
  9. If he is going to DH you might as well sign Jaso who is the much better fit for the lineup. In a lineup with a ton of power already I'll take a high OBP guy over a high power guy.
  10. There would probably be a riot in Toronto. Unless you are getting an absolute steal, I wouldn't trade Stroman.
  11. Brian Collangelo! To be fair picks miss all the time like this. Steph Curry was taken 7th overall after PGs Tyreke, Rubio and Johnny Flynn. How bad do those picks look now?
  12. Thats true. It all the signings happened now ST would feel like it would be years away. November is definitely the worst month of MLB season.
  13. Hope we get some action this week. Never understood that with FA open no one signs or makes trades until December. NBA, NHL, NFL players all sign like the minute FA opens.
  14. Do not want. He's horrid defensively at 1st base. Smoak is the better option IMO
  15. And that all doesn't take into account the most profitable property- The media revenue. TV, radio, SN.ca etc all brought in record breaking numbers. Like you said, not all of the revenue will show up this season because regular season TV ads are already purchased for the most part. But when you get 30 million viewers for the playoffs that is worth a ton of money. To put it in perspective the Ottawa Senators get paid around $30 million per season by TSN for the regional TV rights to around 60 games per year. The average viewership of the games is 200-250K. So that is about 15 million viewers over the course of the season and they get paid $30 million. Well SN just got more than that for the postseason alone.
  16. The NBA system as a whole is awful and the reason I don't watch NBA more. For like 20 teams all you can do is tank and pray that you get lucky drafting a couple superstars and then build around them and hope you can win a championship before they leave for FA.
  17. Holding out for Wiggins? Thats like what 4-5 years from now? And we don't even know if Wiggins will be good. You can't operate a franchise like that lol.
  18. Saunders>Aoki. Aoki's 60% GB rate would be a terrible fit for RC. Aoki will likely get a starting job somewhere else so can't see him signing in Toronto to be a 4th OF.
  19. Well I'm talking revenue wise. There is no denying MLB team values have increased dramatically the last couple of years as a whole so that probably has the biggest effect.
  20. I wonder if the success of big market teams that were terrible in the past drives up the market (Blue Jays, Cubs, Mets). Not only would those teams have more $ because of extra revenue but with revenue sharing there would theoretically be more $ for everyone.
  21. I think we've seen in the past that whoever wins the job in ST really doesn't impact how they perform in the season. Pompey won the CF job last year but was bad and got sent down. Same with Thames over Snider a few years ago.
  22. Yeah if you keep Saunders then that is fine. What I'm saying is cutting Saunders and Revere leaves you no depth if anyone struggles/gets hurt.
  23. Yeah but then when 1 of your outfielders get hurt you are giving PA to scrubs. Thats why I'd rather go with Saunders in LF and have Pompey as depth when someone inevitably gets hurt.
  24. Really wonder why Masai brought back Casey. He still is a horrible in-game coach. Masai seems like a smart GM but I don't get some of his latest moves. That Tross extension is already a disaster a week after signing it.
  25. I'll say thats true, but even if you looked purely at Fangraphs when making those trades the Kemp and Tulo deals looked awful.
