  1. Shapiro has talked about how payroll will be impacted where the Blue Jays are on the win curve. Given how this team is set up for next year you have to think he will be able to convince Rogers if they need extra salary room. Rogers almost has to have payroll "higher" than last year just for PR. If the Blue Jays budget is lower than last year it won't just be fans hating on Rogers as a bunch of media will be all over it because of the record revenues the club brought in. I think it would be smart to have it at $145 for that reason. Now, if you were able to fill all of the holes with a payroll of $140 I don't think its an issue since you aren't going to spend 5 million just for shits and giggles. But if the Jays are able to get better with that 5 Million you do it.
  2. Yeah I would trade him in a package for a SP or try and get a position player prospect. I have a hard time seeing him turning into a successful starter even if it could happen. Sign a Mark Lowe for $10 million and maybe a Blanton type for the pen and you could replace him.
  3. I would hope the next 2-3 years. He's got a pretty muscular build so its not like he's carrying bad weight. I think that is why people would be on board with an opt out.
  4. Gonna need to fix that swing first.
  5. If they were to sell the team they wouldn't be able to have a below market value TV deal with SN anymore which they currently have. I mean I guess they could theoretically sign a long term deal with the Jays so when the team sold they would still have the rights but I feel legal action could be taken in that case. Also from the Blue Jays perspective it would be limiting revenue for the club so they would have no motivation to sign a deal like that. Well if the revenue was already pre-sold like you said those numbers wouldn't show up right away? No one besides Rogers themselves really knows just how valuable the TV numbers increase is but the SN on air guys talk as though the postseason run made Rogers execs really open their eyes with how much money they can make.
  6. @ Miami looks to be pretty tough. Especially with a Saturday night off in South beach the day before lol.
  7. lol of course..
  8. Can't see Rogers ever selling the Jays. They make so much money off the team for SN that the value to Rogers is worth more than the value would be to any owner that would buy the team.
  9. Thats not a name people will want to hear if you are giving 200 Million to a player lol.
  10. Amazing that the Leafs are the 3rd team in Toronto Sports right now.
  11. ESPN broadcasters talking about Raptors in the first min of the Clippers-Warriors game. Amazing.
  12. Agree. Westbrook takes wayy too many shots. Durant will take some bad long 2s but he's one of the most efficient scorers year in year out.
  13. That might be the most impressive regular season win in Raps history lol. 2nd Half of B2B against a rested Championship Contender OKC team.
  14. Huge jump ball.
  15. Christ.
  16. Lol KD was getting that call no matter what happened.
  17. Holy s***!
  18. JV beasting
  19. Yup. I think they know they would get more money if there is no QO attached.
  20. Phillies also had one of the worst GMs in MLB history while Toronto has by all accounts one of the smarter ones. Thats worth a ton...
  21. I don't get the comparisons with the Phillies. The Phillies had a ton of money tied up in pitching, which the Jays don't. The Jays position players are way more talented and younger than the Phillies. Donaldson, Bautista, Martin, Tulo are much much better than Utely, Ruiz, Rollins, Howard were when the Phillies were in the playoffs. Pillar, Travis and Pompey are young position players the Phillies never had. If you want to compare the Jays becoming an aging expensive team the Yankees are a much better example IMO and even then I'd take the Jays group.
  22. Fully expected them to lose by double digits with the B2B but its certainly ugly so far. Offence has looked like a disaster in both shot selection and execution.
  23. Have to think no matter how you structure the deal the Dodgers or Cubs could do the same as they have really smart FOs as well. As an OF, Heyward probably would have to be blown away with an offer to play on turf as well.
  24. Really wish Scola would stop with the long 2s. Just set up at the 3 point line. Its like 3 feet farther from where he's currently taking thee jump shots.
