  1. I think hitters do prefer to hit in certain spots in the lineup. I don't know about Smoak specifically, though. Move Jose to lead off, Pillar to 8th, and move everyone else up one. So, Jose-JD-Morales-Smoak-etc. That seems to be the common sense move based on the talent involved. I'd be ok with Pearce at lead off too, but don't think Gibby has that faith in him yet.
  2. 2017 - starts in Lansing, ends in Dunedin 2018 - starts in Dunedin, ends in NH 2019 - starts in NH, ends in Buffalo, Sept call up? 2020 - starting 3b? That would make him a regular at age 21. Reasonable for a player of his ability. Obviously assuming everything goes well and no setbacks.
  3. Estrada hurting the team's chances and his trade value at the same time. f***.
  4. It was bound to happen since Gibbons has used him for more than half the games played this season, and knowing Gibby probably warmed him up a few times without using him. They really need to scale back on his usage.
  5. Yeah, Osuna's arm would explode with a starter's workload. Just enjoy him for this year and another 3 years (assuming they don't trade him).
  6. Osuna is never going to start again. Time to let go of that dream.
  7. Unfortunately, the Jays might be looking at $58m of deadweight in 2018-2020 from Tulo (plus whatever he's making this season to be below replacement level). Shapiro will have a huge hurdle having to move that contract, but at least we know he won't trade top prospects to get a worse contract back this time around. If anything, he'll have to eat up a large chunk of it and accept little in return.
  8. Yeah seriously. The game is pretty much over at this point. Might as well have Biagini eat up as many innings as possible even if more runs get on the board. If it was a 3-4 run game I'd understand. Oh well.
  9. Well at least there will be no "who goes to the pen?" s*** when Sanchez gets back.
  10. When I saw triple to right field by f***ing Abreu I knew it had to be Bautista's fault without even watching the damn game.
  11. At the time of the Tulo trade: East NYY 57 42 .576 -- BAL 50 49 .505 7.0 TBR 51 51 .500 7.5 TOR 50 51 .495 8.0 BOS 44 57 .436 14.0 Wild Card LAA 55 44 .556 -- MIN 52 47 .525 -- BAL 50 49 .505 2.0 TBR 51 51 .500 2.5 TOR 50 51 .495 3.0 Yes the Jays had a huge run differential that showed that they were much better than their record showed, but they looked far more likely to get a WC spot at that time than the division. Those two trades (Price/Tulo) were short sighted trades by a GM who did not have to deal with the consequences because he knew he was out the moment the season ended.
  12. Jeff Hoffman has a 1.2 WAR in 6 games (5 GS) and 32 innings. Damn.
  13. What are the odds of Sellers and Neal signing? Hopefully good.
  14. MacGregor could lose in 90 seconds and still leave the ring a winner. Dude is going to get paid for something everyone knows he can't win. He could retire based on a few minutes of work.
  15. Buck finally jinxing the other team instead of the Jays.
  16. Holy s*** watching Liriano pitch is torture. Dude has no command more times than not, at least this season. Was hoping for "good Liriano" this year so he could GTFO and get his cash this winter, but I guess not.
  17. With the Jays needing SP's next year, he's probably going to be kept and in the mix.
  18. They are 7-2 against the Jays. We are the only reason they are not dead last right now.
  19. I think the 2nd WC is probably the best the Jays can do at this rate. Their April pretty much nuked any chance they had at the division, and I don't think they are good enough to overtake the Yankees and Red Sox. The key is whether they can overtake and stay ahead of Baltimore, Seattle, Texas, etc. They should be able to, but the Orioles refuse to play to their talent level, and who knows which teams overachieve the rest of the way.
  20. A whiter than white college shortstop so he'll be compared to Russ Adams by some without knowing anything about him.
  21. That's cold...showing Carpenter in a jays uni knowing how it turned out.
  22. I'd be shocked if the Raptors beat the Cavs without LeBron. Straight up, their offence is horrible. DeMar ISO's all day, no ball movement, no 3 point shooting, no inside game. The NBA is a player driven league. Before it was GM's who made the super teams, now it is the players. Can't be fixed just like that.
