  1. Nah. We got blinded by the exit velocity narrative, but I don't think anyone was a huge fan of that deal. It was decent value for what he is. Nothing great.
  2. The 2nd WC team is currently two games over .500. Of all the f***ing years to suck, they had to choose this one.
  3. It's too bad the Mets are not good this year. They were the perfect trading partner.
  4. Trade him. This team ain't getting better next year. They tried to compete in 2017, it failed, and now they can move on with the rebuild.
  5. When selling at the deadline, find a taker for Morales. It's not so much his hitting, but the fact that he's forcing Pearce to play the outfield that is awful. Pearce is a better hitter and has more defensive value. Trade Morales to the ROyals or something. Hell, trade him anywhere. Just open DH up for Pearce and unleash his bat.
  6. Nah, OF next year will be Zeke in RF, Pillar in CF, and Pearce in LF with Pompey as the 4th OF. He's out of options I think.
  7. Me too. Tank nation stand up.
  8. Lol no man, the front office is good. The roster they inherited just had an expiration date. They got all they could get out of it. Now time to pivot.
  9. I hate losing too but the writing is on the wall. I don't want this team to try again next year when they can't even win a winnable as hell 2nd wild card this year. Just trade JD, Osuna, etc, and start the rebuild now instead of prolonging it. I mean losing for a few years is going to suck but we all knew this was coming eventually. Just wish the run lasted longer.
  10. Root for losses and hope the team rebuilds. Seriously that's all that's keeping me interested at this point.
  11. Just so we are clear, Loup couldn't possibly face a hitter batting from the right side last week when the alternative was a walking corpse in Jason Grilli, but he can throw multiple innings and 30+ pitches tonight. Need MikeM to explain some Gibby logic.
  12. Only way to initiate change is to force it. Jays need to start losing April style and maybe this lifeless roster will get a makeover.
  13. Keeping Loup in for a 2nd inning seems like a low upside move. I guess Gibby doesn't want to unleash the Spark man yet.
  14. Thank god Smoak broke out because holy s*** that Morales contract is hot garbage.
  15. Gibby can give Jose and Morales more rest, though. Isn't that good for older players (or players in general)? Why can't Pearce DH or play 1B, moving Smoak to DH, and give Morales a blow? Why can't Zeke play RF, Pearce LF, and Bautista get an off day? Gibbons got an old, slow roster. no question. That doesn't mean he is blameless. He can be a bit more creative in getting guys more rest and using the guys he does have. Won't matter much in the long run, but even tiny things can help out.
  16. Don't worry guys. Pearce will play tomorrow against Sale, probably go hitless, and that will be enough iN Gibby's mind to keep playing Zeke. Seriously, end this season already.
  17. Pompey left game tonight "noticeably limping". Dude is broken.
  18. So the Jays are falling out of the race and Acestrada is killing his trade value. Great.
  19. Goins playing everyday at 2B, Zeke starting over Pearce, Bautista playing all 162 games in the outfield, Morales' slow ass glued to DH.....f***, I never thought I'd be ok with the team losing but at this point what is there to root for? The team isn't good enough anyway.
  20. "He had a bad April, so he sucks". - John Gibbons. Damn Shatkins for giving this hick an extension.
  21. I'll give AA credit; he went hard after Vladdy, took the penalty, but got the best player he could. I have no idea if Franco is good or going to be good, but if he's by far the best talent available, then I might have liked that strategy used this season as well.
  22. Pearce's s***** April sealed his fate. A new player starting off poorly for Gibbons is like a death sentence, especially when competing for playing time with his golden child. I think what offended me more was Zeke pinch hitting for Pearce a few days ago. The Jays have a manager who thinks Zeke is a better hitter than Pearce. That's a bad sign. Gibby's been less annoying since the new front office took over, but holy s***, he can still be the same idiot he was prior to that.
  23. His value won't get any higher by waiting, and the new CBA makes holding on to players and letting them walk pretty pointless. If the Jays were an 87 win team in 2017, then sure, keep JD and make a run in 2018. If they finish sub-.500, chances are they won't be good enough next year either. It's risky holding on to him.
  24. They won't now. Probably won't in the winter either when JD only has a year left. Let me a dream dammit.
  25. Nah, get a top prospect for someone we will be losing in a year. This s*** won't get any better next year when everyone is a year older. Might as well sell now and not prolong the inevitable.
