  1. What the f*** Bassitt?
  2. Yeah that’s the disappointing part. There doesn’t seem to be any urgency from him to get better so he could be part of another playoff push, and that’s after he s*** the bed in game 1 last year. I hope no one compares him to Stroman because Stro was a machine who worked hard and did everything he could to contribute. Manoah is the opposite of that. Tough spot for the Jays because they have trouble developing starters and Manoah is their only success story in 8 years. They’d either have to sell low or hope he gets in shape during the winter, and the latter seems like wishful thinking. Maybe there’s a team desperate for pitching (Cardinals, Padres?) that might give some value rather than low ball.
  3. Yeah a 3 game series at Camden where the Jays would have less expectations and more vetrin presents would be more appealing than any playoff game at the Trop, much less 3 in a row.
  4. If the Jays don’t make the Varsho trade then a KK extension would be a no brainer, but they can’t afford to go into next season with both KK and Varsho in the OF again. Have to view KK as a pure one year rental.
  5. Is JS ok? Letting Berrios get out of that inning was so unlike him.
  6. What a start for Gausman. Much needed to rest the pen.
  7. 91 pitches in Schneider's mind might as well be 131, so I can't imagine Gausman comes out for the 8th, but they probably should let him given how last night's pen was used. Of course if the Jays can add some runs here then they can go to the lower leverage arms in the final 2 innings.
  8. The KC feed just showed Kirk running, and holy s***, he might be the slowest athlete on earth.
  9. This umpire is screwing both teams. This is going to be a frustrating game to watch regardless of the result.
  10. 5 balls in a row, 3-2 count.
  11. The real test will be when everyone is healthy (Chapman and Belt). Will JS play Davis over a vetrin? Common sense says yes, but common sense isn't necessarily his strong point. If Davis is healthy, then he should be playing every game for the rest of the season. Find a way to get his bat into the lineup even if it isn't the optimal defensive alignment. Merrifield going into more of a utility role would make the most sense. He's been awful for over a month.
  12. Kirby would love playing for the Jays.
  13. John Schneider probably smoking a cigarette in the dugout right now.
  14. When everyone is healthy, Davis Schneider better be playing everyday. I know JS would rather catch a bullet to the chest than bench a vetrin for a young guy but he better f***ing adjust.
  15. Limp dick offense, starter pulled after 5 with less than 90 pitches, JS gets off on using at least 4 relievers in a game. The 2023 Jays in a nutshell.
  16. Damn that hurts. Jansen is one of the only guys in the lineup (along with Belt) displaying power this season. The Jays simply don't have enough pop in the lineup to consistently score since Vlad, Springer, etc, stopped hitting for power for some reason. Kirk's bat has gotten better since July (.143 ISO and 109 wRC+ since July 1) but the Jays are going to miss Jansen a lot.
  17. MLB site has Schneider at DH and Biggio at 3B.
  18. Vlad, Springer, Varsho, and Kirk have a 5.6 WAR combined this season. A lot of teams have had injuries, but the Jays have had ridiculous underachievement combined with good health (until recently with Bo and others). Between that and Manoah’s implosion, it’s actually a bit of a shock that they are playing meaningful baseball in the final 2 weeks of September.
  19. 7-5 against the Guardians, Nats, Rockies, and A's is pretty bad, injuries or not. Luckily the Rangers have been awful so the Jays actually gained ground over that stretch but that should have been at least a win or two better for the Jays. Hopefully they can sweep the Royals, but I believe one of the games is against Ragans, and the Jays have a hard enough time hitting s*** pitching much less good pitching, so can't assume anything there. The Jays also need to win 3/4 against the Rangers to hold the tiebreaker in case they finish with the same record. It's a toss up at this point. The Rangers are free falling but all they have to do is right the ship for a week and be right back in the drivers seat.
  20. The Jays can't hit s*** pitching. Miller is an actual prospect with high velo. I hope I'm wrong, but he will sail through 4 innings against this lineup.
  21. Was hoping to see one of the A's shitball relievers. Miller probably carves up the Jays here for the next 3 innings if he's allowed to pitch that much.
  22. I hate that a 2-1 deficit feels a lot bigger than it should be even against a s*** team.
  23. Hal is not George. They definitely care about payroll. With that said, if they are sincere about the youth movement and are ready to use a bunch of $750k guys in starting spots (Volpe, Dominguez, Peraza, Wells, etc), then they might be willing to get in the Ohtani bidding. Hal cares about attendance, and Ohtani would definitely keep attendance up next season coming off a down year in 2023. Still say he goes to the Dodgers though.
  24. Now let Bassitt complete this s***.
  25. That escalated quickly. Finally.
