  1. He also hit RHP much better than LHP the last two seasons in the minors, so there’s absolutely no reason to strictly platoon him. This season has been really annoying overall.
  2. Guillermo/Hudgens would have him reduce his K rate but hit everything the other way (and on the ground) within a week. Gotta stick with the vetrins and sink/swim with them, that’s what the org wants.
  3. John Schneider's head exploding seeing a starter pitching into the 8th inning.
  4. Kyle Gibson probably salivates to face the Jays lineup.
  5. Tony Gwynn's final 252 PA at ages 40 and 41: 116 wRC+, 0.7 WAR Vlad's current 2023 season with 536 PA at age 24: 116 wRC+, 0.5 WAR No lies detected.
  6. Ohtani getting hurt while trying to carry the Angels was sadly predictable. Hopefully he still gets the money he was projected to get.
  7. I don't think you know what hyperbole means if you think anything I wrote there qualifies.
  8. Davis Schneider has a 222 wRC+ and 0.6 WAR in 36 plate appearances and John Schneider doesn't want to use him despite the offense being ass cheeks. I figured the Jays would use a couple of in house options to fill 2024 holes but I don't think it's a certainty. They are staring down the end of their Vlad/Bo window (or should I say "Bo window" instead?) and they haven't seemed eager to use more inexperienced options this season, so they might prefer the vetrin route. What Rogers does with payroll is another issue. I can't imagine a scenario where the Jays miss the playoffs in 2023 and still are a tax team in 2024, but who knows.
  9. A sweep would have been incredible, but win the series tomorrow. Then start taking advantage of the easier schedule.
  10. I don’t think I can take another 1-0 loss, so either score some damn runs to win or get blown out.
  11. Most predictable thing ever.
  12. No doubt they are/were both puppets for the front office, so neither one is different from the other, but Montoyo was playing scrubs regularly (Panik, Valera, etc) and had horrendous batting orders. Schneider at least has logical batting orders and doesn’t play the back of the bench guys unless he has to (for the most part).
  13. Schneider is bad. Montoyo was worse.
  14. Yeah, and that’s after looking awful in April. He’s been a massive pickup.
  15. Huge much needed win.
  16. What a signing Belt has been.
  17. No doubt in my mind if tonight was a playoff game he would have managed it the exact same way, right down to bringing Jimi into the game in that spot.
  18. Schneider will get to bust a nut tonight with the amount of relievers he can use now. And it’s only game 1 of this series so fun on the way for the pen. I hope they enjoyed their off day.
  19. Schneider continues to make the same f***ing mistakes.
  20. Ed Rogers probably salivating at this news.
  21. Grayson since coming back on 7/17: 6 GS, 1.0 WAR, 3.03 ERA, 2.96 FIP, 35.2 IP Those starts were against the Dodgers, Rays, Yankees, Jays, Astros, and Padres. He's been very good since he came back up.
  22. Another team to keep an eye on is the Rangers. They lead the West by 2.5 on the Astros and 3 on the Mariners heading into tonight (and 3.5 up on the Jays). Conceivable that they could be passed in the standings by one or both of Seattle/Houston, which muddies up the WC even more. The Jays also have 4 games against the Rangers in September.
  23. Yeah it hasn't just been Manoah but a bunch of important players having off years at the same time (Vlad, Kirk, Varsho, Springer primarily). Even Chapman since May 1 has an 86 wRC+ (.208/.301/.362) and 1.2 WAR in 385 PA (yes he was that good in April). It's a testament to how good the pitching has been that the Jays are even this good record-wise. Varsho and Springer have at least been coming on lately. All 3 of the Jays, M's, and Astros have relatively easy schedules down the stretch. It's going to come down to the wire. The Rays have a tougher schedule but may have enough distance between them and the Jays to not worry too much. Six games is catchable but not ideal.
  24. Yeah say what you want about Stroman’s personality but he unquestionable works hard and rises up to challenges. If Manoah had that work ethic he’d probably still be in the big league rotation and actually contributing to it.
  25. It certainly explains why Elias wasn’t spending money on pitching this past winter. Turns out he didn’t need to but he’s working for a guy who wants to build like the Rays and cry poverty.
